I'm kinda excited about Halloween this year. My friend's son is almost 5 so he's at the fun age and he loves to cook so we're going to bake that chocolate cake he's been asking me for and make our own candy and caramel apples. We'll rent some movies... non-scary, kid friendly of course and let him dress up. Although he's been insisting for months that he wants to be the Princess in the blue dress but according to my friend he'll be the blue Power Ranger instead. So what are your plans for Halloween?

I don't know. Halloween is nothing really big around here (except in the amusement park). But I won't be around here during Halloween, so I guess finally I get to "pretend" to be something too? I love gothic look, so I might just pretend one of those gothic dolls *laughs*.

You'll love it, there's foods just for halloween, all the candy is pumpkin and ghost shapped and even the babies get to wear costumes!

Oh and so do the pets, lol, my cat was an "angel" one year.

We'll have the kids and grandkids over... with scary movies!! We'll have some great food, usually based around homemade soup and homemade bread. Pumpkin custard, cuz my diabetic hubby doesn't eat pie crust... and the punkin seeds, roasted and salted, of course! I have a big pipe-cleaner spider I wear on my shoulder every year, and cage of rats for the porch. There are no trick-or-treaters anymore, but I still like a bit of decoration!

Sounds like fun! I found some sugar-free caramel from smuckers (sp?) to experiment with so we might use that on our apples. I'm hoping I can find a good sugar-free chocolate cake recipe as well. Not so much for my mother as the fact that the 4 yr old is naturally super hyper and I don't intend on creating a monster, lol.

Nope... only fake monsters for Halloween!LOL! The caramels sound great... Hun hasn't had a carameled apple for a LONG time! The grandkids would love them too. Two of them are so 'fashionably thin' that all I want to do is hug 'em and feed 'em!

I'm thinking they'll turn out great. I've always love sugar free caramel candy, like the Russel Stovers sugar free pecan turtles.. mmmm. I think if we add different things like sugar free toffee or various nuts or use quality dark chocolate so it's not as sugary but still tasty, we can come up with all kinds of yummy apples. My fave are the red candy apples, we used to make them a lot. In the fall we always buy the gourmet chocolate covered apples, which cost too much but taste so good. I think I can recreate that in more nonsugar friendly versions and have them still be just as tasty. Ohhh and with popcorn clusters too! We're getting a popping machine so we can avoid all the sodium and chemcials that come with microwave popcorn. I think that sugar free and low sugar snacks and sweets are great to feed kids with and you can always tell those who watch their weight "hey, it's sugar free".

A few of my friends are throwing their very first adults-only party this year, so I'll probably attend that. I'll be working on my (super simple) costume up until the very last minute, because that's just how I work! :) The kids' celebration in my town is actually during the afternoon, not in the evening, so I'll have to work double-time on finishing my son's costume. The biggest problem right now is that I haven't even decided what he should be yet! He's only two, so he doesn't really have much input this year. He's rather fond of flowers and "keekee cats" though... hmm, maybe the kitty cat would be a good costume!

We don't live in a decent neighborhod so my kids go up to the school on Halloween night to go trick or treating. I wasn't sure if it would be any fun or not the first year that we moved here but my kids love it. I don't have to worry about the quality of the candy that is given out since all the candy is donated by parents and my kids get to hang out with their friends while they go through the school. They always have a "haunted house" set up in the music room and a place to take family pictures to remember the evening.

That's a great idea for the school to host something like that. I bet it's fun for both the kids and the parents to take part it and you've got that peace of mind knowing that they are safe.

"A Nightmare Before Christmas" is a good Halloween movie for kids. Oh, and maybe Beetlejuice too. I have a tabletop Christmas tree that I put Halloween decorations on this year. Last year I used a planter in the shape of a bowl. It had a pattern of fall leaves painted on it. Well I filled it with rocks and put leafless twigs in the center of it. That looked really spooky. Then I put Halloween ornaments I made on the small branches of the twigs to make a spooky skeletal tree lol.

I will be taking a Halloween singles cruise in the Caribbean. This will be my second Halloween cruise and my third cruise overall. The cruise stops at Nassau, Bahamas; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and St. Martin, which is divided between the Dutch and French. I'll be wearing a tiger costume this time.

That's pretty cool! I bet that's so much fun. I've been wanting to take a cruise for a while now and trying to get some friends together to take one next summer but for Halloween sounds really fun.

I will decorate my front porch. And fill the witch's couldron with candy and get all excited to see the Halloween costumes for the year. I love the homemade ones the best. I will watch *ghosty* shows on TV and that will probably be it. I love passing out the candy best.

I am thinking about doing the candy this year, there are a ton of kids in the area so it would be fun. Last year I lived in an apartment with no kids around. But then again if we're left with a lot of candy my mom will get into it and I'm having a hard enough time trying to get her to stick to her new diabetic diet. I can always put away whatever is left... by put away I mean eat, lol.

My partner and I are probably going to spend the evening of the 31st October at the Rollright Stones in the heart of the English countryside with a a group of good friends.

I want to have a Halloween party this year. My friends all want to do an older version of Harry Potter, we all dress up as the characters but the fact that we're all 20 and over makes it the older version.
