Where can I find information on transcendental meditation?

I watched a fascinating lecture by David Lynch earlier tonight at Google Video. While watching, I became extremely interested in his topic, transcendental meditation. The way he talked, it costs in the thousands to learn how to do this if you sign up with a guru. But I would like to do some independent studies on this and try to learn it myself. I know it won't be the same, but I also know it will not be impossible. My budget right now just will not allow me to spend any extra money. But I'd really like to learn all I can about this. Can you direct me to a good place to learn about this fascinating topic where I won't have to spend any money?
