I am just trying to gather some information to see if anyone else has ever heard of this...My son was born with his ears pierced all the way thru...his dad has dimples in his ear lobes that are on both the front and back but not all the way thru. Has anyone else ever heard of this and know of a medical name for it? I am curious where the gene originated from. Thanks:)

Hi I'm 44 and was born with both ears pierced - I always wanted to know if others have this.. People laugh when I tell them. It's great to know there are others in the world. Would love to find out more biblical or medical.. I'm religious so will believe if god has chosen me for a reason..

Hello! I am a 55 year old male in Pa. and I too was borne with pierced ears. The hole is just in front of and a little above the tragus. It only goes into my head a short way and my father cleaned them out with a pin when I was a child. An earing post can go into it though only about two thirds of the way. I was told my family doctor told my father one in 100,000 are borne with it. Through the years as I asked around many people have said that it was a sign of having a "veil" in front of your face meaning you have gifted insight. I have seen others with it though very rarely.

Hi there. I was born with my left ear pierced and I have wondered this my whole life. I have recently found out that it's called a preauricular pit or sinus. If you search this on the internet, you will get the info that you need. The website I found most helpful was "emedicine.medscape.com/article/1118768-overview".
It is a common malformation that happens when 2 of the 6 hillocks don't completely fuse together and it's not fatal but can become infected so you must keep an eye on that. I really hope this helped.
Cheers!
C.M.

I too was born with a pierced ear but not on my lobe on the very top of my left ear that doesnt go all the way through, I was told that I was special when I was a kid I found through just my association that when I was in a gifted and talented program most of the children had a pierced and they where extremly talented and great at a very young age ...I believe it is spiritual and it could mean that you have something to do for the Kingdom of GOD, for GOD himself through his son Jesus the Christ I Thank GOD for choosing me and maybe you should as well not an ailment a deliverence your salvation AMEN !

i was born with pierced ears as well... they are not normal looking piercings... they go in up then out but not dramatically... more slanted if you know what i mean... some indians believe this is a sign of reincarnation... also too in the bible.. it was a symbol of a servant's loyalty too his master... Jesus is said to have had his ears pierced as a symbol of this too.. i can tell you that i believe that God marked us as special... and so when times get tough and I am sad, i remember that God marked me for something special and the truth of the piercings reminds me that there is something special behind these eyes, i'm not a Jehovoa's witness... however the bible tells of 144 thousand people that were chosen and marked from the begining to rule from heaven... what do you think... this has puzzled me since i was a young buck...
Hope to hear from you soon

I have never heard of that. It seems pretty crazy! Is it something that is around forever, or something that goes away? If you want pierced ears, that would be nice!!
Your son can just go through life knowing that he is amazingly special! I have no help as to the name of the gene. Sorry

I have wondered the same thing and tried to get an answer. One of my cousins was born with one ear piercing. I have seen a male kid like 5 yr old, with several peircings on both of his ear lobes (all over), like how old traditional Indian or Afghan ladies use to have. I always wanna blame reincarnation for that, though reincarnation strictly not my belief!! Wish I could get an answer as well :)

I will apologise first that i dont have anything productive to actually say on this lol, or nothing that can give you an insight as to where it came from! But i havent heard of it before, and sat open mouthed as i read it! How bizarre?!
I bet that will be one he will be joking about when he is older! At least its not something that stands out a mile! I will keep an eye on this post to see if anyone has any gems of knowledge to shine some light on the issue lol!
Good luck in finding out! He could of popped out with some diamond earrings in ;) now that could of gone down quite well im sure!
xx

have any of you looked into reincarnation? I have heard people talking about small tiny holes in one or both ears
