Do you buy your kids birthday cakes or make them yourself?

We have a huge family on my side...so when we do a big birthday party, we buy a cake. But I'll make one for my husbands side of the family....they tend to be uncomfortable combined so yes, I have to do two birthday parties.

It is my wife's job to buy a big birthday cake for my son on his birthday. He seems to like birthday cake very much, but I don't have a special preference for it. It is just ok for me to taste one portion of the cake cut down by my wife. We always have some tiny and skinny candles on the candles as they are given together with the cake. We would invite our relatives to come for his birthday and it is a big dinner, making my wife so busy on that day.

I generally make them, and also send along cupcakes to class with them in school as well.
It takes awhile to do the decorating, but only because I am far from a pro.. but the kids also end up liking the results. So that's always nice!

Hi,
I am not too good with cooking and make a cake ^_^;; So, when my son birthday, we just buy it or my tante make it for us and we pay it.
Just make it easy for me :)
