I was up to FIA to get assistance while I am off from work do to health related problems and I had a interview with my case worker and she said that I was taking the assistance for granted because my husband is working. He brings home $126 a week with us paying $600 a month rent. I was basically asking for food relief and medical allowance. Then when I was leaving I noticed a ladie going into the office that had a brand new car and as I was leaving she was complaining about not having money to support herself. I had to walk to my appointment because of no car as well as my husband walking to work every day. I could not understand the fact that she can get the assistance but I can not. What is taking advantage of the FIA? hugs

Do I think they take it for granted? Of course they do. I've seen the same thing happen. I got to a church for food every so often and get so mad at the people who are dressed so nice and came in brand new cars to bring their free food home! I have to walk a long way because there is no bus available and I feel they are taking food from those who really need it. They definitely need to change the system.

I felt the same way. I know all about the buses also but a lot of the time I can not even afford the bus. I have never had to ask for anything before this but then I after not receiving any thing from me working for 31 years I thought to myself what was I paying into all of these years just ot have some lady deny what I need when I need it. hugs

People do take advantage. But some people genuinely need a hand up.
