i really think so ? just see how much the cricketers are getting for their win i'm not underestimating but i do think it is more hyped like indian hockey players also won recently one international tournament and what they got was not comparable to cricket and hockey is our national game don't we should do something about it?

Today morning while reading newspaper i was discussing about ths issue with my dad as those heading said" starved hockey ready to fast"
well..i always think of this as hockey being the national game of our country is not getting enough response from our government in promoting the game like cricket. The players after winning the mini world cup are getting a amazing treatment from people and governent have announced huge amount of money with regard to their best performance appraisal.Let them encourage cricket but they need to promote hockey too..is what i feel strongly.

hi aissha,
If you are disccussing specically hockey then i think they have to prove themselves alot more because merely winning one tournament is not enough. bring and shows consistent winning, automatically brings media exposure plus the support of the indian as we have seen in cricket.

Well i do think hockey is given a step motherly treatment.Oue hockey players havent been properly rewarded or respected when they won the asian cup, thats why they sat for hunger strike i think hockey should be given due respect which it doesnt have now

It is very sad that the Hockey players are feeling let down by their country. But unfortunately the common man likes cricket over hockey. The cricketers are news makers and they are second only to bollywood actors in terms of popularity.
Cricket has evolved with time and tastes of the people. From being a gentleman's game for 6 days to a 50 over a side and now to a 20 over blitz.
Hockey has very much been the same across the world. I'm sure Botham and Flintoff are more popular than the Hockey Captain of England.
However the government should take care of the Hockey players as well.

You Are Right That Indian Hockey Players Are Sidelined. The Cricket Hype Is So Much That Other Sports In India Are Just Nothing In Front Of It.Despite Hockey Being National Game,It Has Never Been Promoted By India. I Feel Cricket Has Got All Attention Because Of The Amount Of Money Involved In It.The BCCI Is The Richest Cricket Board In World.
