hello mylotters!^-^-^
i just wanted to know your opinion regarding this.what do you think on this topic?do you consider ignorance as bliss or knowledge is what you yearn for?
i think "ignorance is bliss" is said by those who refuse knowledge.so how credible is their statement? i believe that enlightenment confers the greatest bliss, infact its a gift.because life is more rewarding as you strive for something more.and truth always sets you free.but then sometimes i feel like its agony and ignorance was better because we overanalyze everything and then life looses its pleasure.although our brains make us feel superior,it also sucks at times.
what do you believe in ignorance or enlightenment and consider as bliss?every opinion is respected.thanks.

unfortunatly I believe you are correct... I would like to think of myself as a learned man but I find no solis in that fact I find that, in fact my pursuit of knowledge has become somewhat of an obsession, an addiction and it does at time rule my mood. I find that the more I learn is the more I learn I do not know and the more information I desire to engulf and at times it has even made me arrogant; not to the people who lack the knowledge but to some of the people who have the same knowledge and interpret it differently. There are a lot of times in my life where I wish I did not know what I was talking about so I could have omitted myself from another undesired conversation about the state of the economy or stuff like that. I guess in the end the pursuit if knowledge is one of the things that I will probably always do even though at least for me it has always done more harm than good but I do totally understand where you are comming from.

in some circumstances, ignorance is bliss. for example, the poor has no knowledge of modern technologies because they don't have money. now, we all know that modern technologies doent just give us comfort, don't just make things easy for us, it also kinda makes us lazy. and modern technologies become necessities which expands our needs, like a cellphone will makes us need load cards or money to pay for the bill. thus, increasing money problems. now the poor, not exposed to this will live a simple life with lesser problems.
we could also take a very simple example. a person who unknowingly ate ants which was in his burger, will not be bothered by it since all he knew was what he ate was just a burger. so he's in a bliss. he's not grossed out. ^__^;; unlike me then. LOL
now enlightenment is agony. because when that person discovered he ate ants, he'll be freaked out and be grossed out just like me. and he'll be wishing he didn't know about the ants. like me. LOL
of course, these are just one side of the story. there are circumstances that enlightenment is bliss, like when I learned that my ex was courting my friend, that was bliss coz I got free of the darndest guy. ^__^

Those who believe ignorance is bliss hate smart people and this is one way to keep people from improving their intelligence. The more you know, the happier you are because you know how to get out of many terrible situations.
But if you sit around all day, twiddling your thumbs or laying on the couch, then what knowledge you acquired does you no good. And those who are ignorant of what is going on deceive themselves into oblivion, until it is too late and they cry, "why did not someone tell me?"
