HelpMyBabyLive.com Was A Scam...

A few months back, I posted about a website: http://www.helpmybabylive.com Basically, the premise of the website was that a couple had found out that they were expecting and decided that they needed $50,000 to raise the child. The website was designed to accept donations to raise the money, and if the money was not raised the woman would get an abortion. I went back to the website today to discover that who ever had posted it, had now posted pictures of mangled fetuses and a note. The note stated that there had never been a baby, no money was collected, and that 200,000 people had fallen for the scam. I think it was an appalling and absolutely disgusting thing to do. How sick do you have to be to get enjoyment from a scam like that?

Oh I just noticed on the site that "there was no money collected"....So what was the purpose then?? As for the pics....as awful as this will seem to many, (and yes I'm a mother), pics like that dont phase me in the slightest...just after I had my abortion a few yrs back ppl would try to use shock tactics like that to make me feel bad....they failed miserably mind you but ya I've seen so many pics like that its just a none thing for me...

I guess the purpose was just to "ruffle some feathers". It was probably someone who had nothing better to do with his/her time and wanted to see how many people he/she could dupe. I still think it was a horrible thing to do though.

When I see emails or stories like this, I try to check it at www.snopes.com They are a great site for checking emails to make sure they are not a scam. I've sent things to people only to have them send me replies that it's a fake. I forget to check them out sometimes, but I try to remember. It's awful how some people will play on the emotions of others, just to try to make a dollar or two. I don't know what satisfaction people get out of doing this. I feel better and a little vindicated, when I check an email and it ends up being untrue, I delete it that way no one else has to see it.

Thanks for the heads up about that website. I will definitely use it in the future. At least if there are a couple of us deleting those fake emails there's that many less people who may read it and fall for the scam.

That is absolutely discusting to use the people's mercy and compassion toscam them. I feel these people should be locked up for a few years for what they have done, especially using people like that and using a baby's identity. Thank you for alerting us to this so we have to do very good due diligence before we pass upour readies to any charitable cause. We always have to check the poeple out first I think.

Yes, rather than just donating to a cause you should try and do some research first to avoid getting scammed.

That is terrible!! Those pictures are just aweful! I could hardly even look at them, as a mother they are heart-breaking!! It is terrible that someone would do something like that!! Did they post those pictures because no one gave them money?? I didn't see your original post so I don't know what the web-site was before this crap, but those pictures are horrible!!

I agree, I found those pictures very hard to look at. The old website was at that same address. It was a plain page with their "story" on it and a meter that said how much money they had collected and how much time was left. I wish that whoever was hosting that site would take it down.
