Well, if you read my previous article, then you know that my son Nick has been having a hard time in school. He was supposed to be held back in the third grade, and it didn't happen, and then again in the forth. That didn't happen either. So this year I switched him to a new school. It's a charter school, and so far it is wonderful. He was placed in the fifth grade, and has had nothing but failing grades. I got together with his teacher, and she and I went to the principal, and discussed what was going on. It turned out that Nicholas' third grade report card actually said that he was retained. This was the ammo we needed to get him put back a grade. Now that you are up to date, here's what's happened since then... The principal of his new school faxed that report card over to the school board, along with some other things. Yesterday when I picked him up from school, the teacher pulled m,e aside and said that they approved the move to the forth grade!! I am so very happy. Although I am a little worried about how Nick will adjust, and what the other kids might do or say to him,. I think I made the right decision. He was so far behind, and still is, (since it was two years in a row that he was supposed to be held back, )but this is going to be so much better for him! I took him to school this morning, and walked him to the fourth grade class! I think this is a wonderful thing. I finally got the help for him that I needed through his new school!
