I am very sad to hear this news....
In India where hockey is considered as the national game, the game which brought us pride in the olypics in the past is in the state of ignoring...........
It is becuase we people are giving much importance to Cricket ... and so polititians are also doing.......
India won the 20-20 world cricket.. they should be felizitated...
But the fact is that when India won the ASIA CUP in HOCKEY ... players are not only awarded a single money not even a congtatulations for the government....
These playes cannot suffer the hight importance given to cricket.......
This will lead to the failure of all other games esp HOCKEY where we have a good tradition.........

Not even hockey every other games in india should be given its own importance..........
Where is Kabadi standing now..........
After Paes, Bhupathi and Sania where is tennis.....
In football the world famous game we are not even in 80 rankings.........
One thing is that Volleball is improving day by day.....
We can say ony one thing..
Chakhdhe india in every game........

Finally the reflection and the relavance of this topic is happened.
Yesterdayb the hockey team is out of the next Beiging Olympics and it is happening in for the first time in past 80 years..
What a pathetic situation for the hockeey team.
Is this due to the negligence from the respective authorities?

Yes, I have read it in the newspapers and I support them completely. Something like this should have happened long time back. The BCCI may be the richest sports body in the world and the way cricketers are pampered may not be possible by the IHF or the IFA, but even the Govt does precious little for these two sports. Actually everywhere it’s the same story of oiling the rich and influential. As it is the BCCI is rich and takes good care of its cricketers, on top of that the Govt and sponsors lavish them with praise and gift. But no such hope for the cricketers and footballers. Sponsors are hard to find by and govt help is paltry in comparison to the requirement. One P T Usha may feel that she has been properly felicitated by the Govt, but to honor all 11 players requires correct intentions, which the establishment is lacking.

I agree with ur valuable comments..........
The situation is the same as in the old age........
"Rich becomes rich and Poor becomes poorer." ...
Cricket is gaining is highest attention while all other games are tampered.........
It has been a long time that India clich a gold medal in the olympics.

I am thinking about the film "Chakdhe India". It was centered aroung Women hockey and sharukh knan acted the major roll........
Now the situation is turning upside down...........
When India wins the battle against Australia and finals media have telecasted this chakdhe chakdhe india song...
So for sometime i didnt realize that It was taken for a hockey game but it was not that much noticed.........
But with cricket people are noticing that song and they are hearing it with thrill............
Maybe this might have triggered the hockey players to go for the hunger strike.........
The hockey song gets the reward when it is played as cricket song........
Which hockey lover can suffer it.........

They are right in doing hunger strike. The government and the people and including sports bodies are to be blamed for this sorry state of affairs. We Indians are a sort of sychophants, embracing the cricket players and not other sportspersons. It is time, the government should correct this byoffering more money to other sports bodies and cut all the payments to cricket because cricket Board of India is richest among the world bodies of similar sports. We need to encourage those sports which have been neglected so that the players feel confident of bringing laurels to the country.

Yeah, cricket has become a religion in India.Today Hockey in India stands where Cricket stands in U.S,Carribean.And nothing gets changed in the days to come.It remains as it is.
It's the hockey association that is to be blamed. They need to show the youngsters why Hockey is our national game?.They need to conduct matches at all levels to increase it's popularity. It is India we are in and why can't they do that?.
Thanks to the Sharrukh starrer ChakDe that some might have atleast remembered Hockey. We don't need them.that's like just a force.the momentum should be gained to make India a sportmen rich country and give Hockey it's importance as a national game.

Moreover In the sports page of HINDU I have seen India Oil congratulating their hockey players that too after one month after Asia Cup.....
