Hi mepibot, I have two cats and I talk with them all the time. I'm sure there are times when they understand me. They really appreciate the time spent with them too. My oldest cat is now 12 years old, and when he comes in from outside will always thank me for opening the door. I respond with , you are welcome Rusty. He will usually wait for me to say this. Animals are much smarter then we think. Blessings.

i talk to my pets everyday. my husband thinks that i am crazy for doing it espeially when i am talking to themlike they are one of my kids..lol.. i go as far as saying mommy loves you. he is really thinking that i need help..hehehe i think it is funny when he looks at me like i am crazy, but i tell him it is because i treat them like they are my babies well you know what i mean..they are a part of my family and i am the one that takes care of them so in some sence they are like babies... but i know alot of people who do the same thing. i think if you talk to your pets it is building the bond with them...

I talk to my dog Piper all the time. why shouldn't we? as far as I am concerned your pets are part of the family and deserve to be treated as such. Lots of time I will sit there and talk to her and she will tilt her head to the side like she is intently listening. It is so cute!

some people especially the elder people usually do this things ,maybe because their childrens are busying on their work,do not have enough time to stay at home, even they have free times, the youngs are more likely to choose chating with friends,or playing games on the computer,so elders have no listeners, then their pets become their good listeners ,the elders treat them like the kids, and the kids also give them pieasure

I talk to my cat all the time! He responds sometimes, at least it seems like he does. LOL Sometimes I swear it sounds like he's saying "yes". especially when I ask if he wants some food.

I always speak with my pets. It builds relationships with animals and builds their trust. Some people don't believe that animals can understand you, so why would they talk to them? The mass majority of people who own pets actually believe that some of them have psychic abilities and can understand your emotions through your words or actions, and therefore when speaking to pets (especially for those people who feel depressed, angry, hurt, or just needing someone to talk to, etcetera) people feel much better about themselves and others.
Also, many people tell their deepest darkest secrets to pets. You know why? Because pets are silent, they tell no secrets, and they never judge. No pet is going to walk away from you when you tell them that you like a special boy or girl because they think you're foolish or something.
