These folks are absolutly correct! Open an account at a bank and get a debit card or student debit card. Get an online account so you can monitor it anytime you want. Remember. What shows at the ATM may not be what is avaiable. Banks are notoriously slow posting transactions so they can get overdraft fees. Even on debit cards. Most credit cards a person without credit or being young are scams. If you want a future. DO NOT own ANY type of credit card! Pay cash or use a debit card.

If you can, avoid getting a credit card. There are other ways to get good credit - such has having a bank account in good standing or paying your cell phone bill on time. Do the small things to save your credit so that when you want to make a big purchase like a car or a house you can get those exceptionally low financing options and save yourself thousands of dollars. Aslo, if you have good credit your car insurance will be lower!

if you do not have any credit built up the only credit card you will probably qualify for is a student visa or something similar. go to your bank and talk to a financial advisor on how to get an application. may i suggest also...if you are getting this card for shopping purposes only dont do it. young men and women these days get themselves into more debt than they can even dream up before they realize it. get a debit card, put money in the accound and balance it regularly so you never have over draft fees. if youre looking to build up credit, get your student visa and use it once a month for something small and easy to pay off.

There are pre-paid credit cards and bank credit/debit cards. Those are the easiest to get if you don't have credit.
