This is going to be hard...
I saw this local tv series last night and he is a policeman in pursuit with a thief, upon taking off the mask, he found out that its his brother..but still he arrested him for robbing the bank...when he went home, his mom got mad at him for arresting his brother...
if youre on that same situation, will you arrest him..yes, his brother has done something wrong, so he should be arrested, what now? youre basically caught in the middle right?
its really hard, for me, i dont know, i also cant come up with the right decision..its your job to arrest bad elements in the community, and its also your brother at stake, and family takes care of familiy right?
Oh well...i dont know yet...il get some sleep and think about it..lolz!

I don't see any valid reason why I should not, if one breaks the law, then one should pay. May it be a brother, a sister, a parent or relatives, not even those who are ignorant of what the law is are excused.
I'd be glad to turn them in, than face humility if ever my colleagues caught them instead of me.

yeah..like what everyone says...no one is above the law...but we are all aware that there are also other people whose doing that and keeping it for them...like i said, its a choice we need to make and we just need to be ready for the consequences...right?

Dear daryljane, Arresting a brother for stealing differ individual to individual. In my case I may not arrest him though I am sincere and honest man. Of course my brothers are very honest and devoted family members. They do not get involved in these kind of activities. Even if brother caught stealing, I do not think I have the guts to arrest him. On the other hand, I will take the blame on my shoulder and stand for the trial.

i have a tendency not to do so.
But i really have to see what is the situation, if it is not my brother's first theft, and i tried to solve the problem and still it keeps going on and i do know that the only solution is arresing him, then i will do so.
But i do hope there won't be a situation like that, and as i know my brother, there is no chance that this will ever happen. :)

yeah, like i said on my previuos reply, i can let it pass on the first time i caught or found out about it..but if it keeps going on, than that leaves me no choice but to turn him in.

That would be a hard thing to do,but it didn't make it anymore right for his brother to put him in that situation.

its like, you put yourself in that situation for stealing and putting your brother in that situation for making what decision you need to make..on the other hand, youre a policeman and you are given a choice what you need to do..which is really hard..

What people don't realize is that when a cop as caught you doing something, they really have no choice but to do their job. I think it's stupid how people resist arrest which makes it harder on everybody including themselves. In the end, they get arrested anyway.
Yes I would arrest my own brother if I had caught him committing a crime. I'd just be doing my job. If I don't, I'll lose it. If I don't, I'm taking responsibility for other people's actions. If I don't, I can't put food on the table. I'm not about to take the fall for someone who's stupid enough to get caught anyway.

yeah..who knows, after he is given that chance, he will do good after that..at least someone gave him a chance to change and go for the better.

My uncle arrested his dad, my grandfather, for public drunkenness. I guess I would arrest a family member for stealing.

if your uncle arrested your grandfather for drunkenness which is not that too much of a crime..well, taking in consideration what he;s capable of doing when he is drunk, then what more if a family is stealing..
thanks garden gerty! :)

Well the way I see it is stealing is very wrong. So I wouldn't care if it was my best friend or a family member. I wouldn't even care if it was my wife, if I was married that is. LOL I believe people should have to pay for their crimes. So it wouldn't be like I didn't love them, but if you do it to one person you have to be fair and do it to everyone. That's how I see it.

Wow thats a very hard decision I don't know still also the answer for that. But maybe as a authority I would arrest since it was my job and If I will not, ofcourse I will be the one who is responsible for and might have the bad reputation and maybe they will charge me about that. I'm not still sure of my answer.

Suppose I "am" a policeman, I think that I will educate him at home without sending him to jail. Since I "am" a policeman, I think that my education will also work to make him behave well as a good citizen. lol. In fact, I do have no idea about to do if I should face such a problem. hehe.

Hello daryljane,
Yes, this is one hard question to answer. I want to be a good police but when it has something to do with my own brother, it is just hard to make the right decision. Yes, I know my job very well but to arrest my own brother...I think if I have a chance to slow talk with him, I will persuade him to leave 'the job' forever before I have to arrest him one day. Well, that is the best thing I can think of right now...maybe I should get some sleep like you do and then wake up with a new idea and a fresh mind *laughs*

thats also anothing best thing to do gr8tlife..in this lifetime, we are given choices to make.. and given that kind of situation, its really hard.
yes, we can also let it pass for that time and really talk to him and maybe tell him that if he's going to do it again..chances are, he might get caught by some other policeman and its already out of our control...
