Did your insurance company refuse to pay for Zofran?

Because I suffered from Hyperemesis during my pregnancy I required multiple daily doses of Zofran. Because of job changes and policy year changes I was covered under three different insurance policies during my pregnancy - Aetna HMO, Aetna PPO and Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO. One of these companies refused to cover the expense of my medication. At the time a generic form of Zofran was not available. The dosage I required cost nearly $40 per pill and I needed three a day for month after month. I understand they didn't like the cost but isn't that why we have insurance? Without the medication I would have died. Has your health insurance company denied payment for Zofran or another expensive drug?
