Where do you live? Do you know your state flag looks like and it's symbolism?

I live in MA and I was reading about our state flag which I found very interesting. I don't think it's as "fancy" as most state flags are but I like the symbolism behind it.
This is what I found out about the MA state flag:
****************************************************
The flag of Massachusetts displays, on both sides, the state coat of arms centered on a white field. The shield depicts an Algonquin Native American with bow and arrow; the arrow is pointed downward, signifying peace. A white star with five points appears next to the figure's head, signifying Massachusetts' admission as the 6th US State. A blue ribbon (blue, signifying the Blue Hills of Canton and Milton) surrounds the shield, bearing the state motto Ense Petit Placidam, Sub Libertate Quietem ("By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty"). Above the shield is the state military crest: a bent arm holding a broadsword aloft. The sword has its blade up, to remind that it was through the American Revolution that independence was won.

I have lived in North Carolina most of my life, and the flag is attached below. As for it's history, the most significant symbols are the dates on the yellow scrolls in the blue un
The upper date, May 20th, 1775, commemorates the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence (named for Mecklenburg County, where North Carolina citizens met to declare their freedom from Great Britain, although the original document was destroyed and some people have questioned its existence). The lower date, April 12th, 1776, commemorates the adoption of the Halifax Resolves (this was the first official action by a colony calling for independence from Britain).

That should have read "blue union" in the top few sentences. Not sure what happened there. And forgot to attach the picture as said. Here it is.

It's very interesting to study the symbolism of the individual state flags, ctry. I did the research on the flags of the two states that I love many years ago-Tennessee and Ohio. I am also a history buff and enjoy learning things about our country's history. I do have a booklet that has the history of all of the state flags, but I have not gotten it out to read in a long time. Thanks to your discussion I will be doing that today. I think it is important that we know something about where we come from and where we are today.

I think as US citizens we should know about the history of even our states. Just because we are adults we shouldn't stop learning and enjoying our history.

I stay in a state called Karnataka in India. I'm basically from Kerala (another state) though.
I'm sorry to say I have no idea of the flag of Kerala. But I do know the flag of Karnataka. I don't know what it symbolises though. I'm sure to find out now.
