I used to read any kind of book... but I started reading Gabriel Garcia Marquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude...I think it'll take me a century to finish it, too!
He's a great author (Marquez), but I doze off every time I'm reading this particular work of his.
Do you have the same sentiments on a book you are reading?

I have this horrible habit of starting a book, and never finishing it. This doesn't happen 100% of the time, but it happens more than I would like it to. I don't know if it has something to do with my OCD or what, but it's a horribly annoying habit. It's not the book's fault, I can tell you that much. It could be the easiest read and I would still end up doing the same thing. I'm trying to break the ongoing thing right now with the current book I'm reading. Wish me luck.

I know I have been reading books that I couldn't finish because they were wayyy too boring and I seriously felt it would take me years to finish it. So I just stopped. If a book is that bad I'd rather spend my time reading something better lol.

I tried reading Shogun by James Clavell and it was very difficult for me to get through. I just couldn't finish it. Of course I was pretty young. I was captivated by the miniseries Shogun that aired on tv. I was glued to the screen with my parents every night! I felt I must read the book as well to find out how close to the movie it was. I just couldn't get my head around that book. I think I was about 12 when I tried to read it. I might try to read it again, I am now 35, I might have a better chance now lol.

some books get better when we ourselves get wiser..:)
I finally figured I didn't find the patience for the book's pace...really slow..hehe

I guess you are forcing yourself to read that because you have heard about how great that author is. Shakespeare is reputed to be great but i don't like his books. they are boring to me. I guess the same applies to you. drop the book and get something lively to read.

I actually liked his other books. I don't buy books because of the author. The book is interesting, but as the chapters flew by, it didn't make any sense for me. It took me a minute to read another more riveting book :)
