Hi juniorance! It is really hard to say if there is really a difference between the two. But I guess there is. There is really a difference betweeen the word love and like. For my own understanding, when you say "love," you really like the overall quality and personality of the person. You have this feeling that really inspired you most. On the other hand, when you say "like," it sounds that you only like some of the quality and personality of the person. Meaning to say, not all.
I just hope I was able to tell the difference between the two words.
Have a nice day and God speed!

well there is a very thin line between love and like. i feel when you like someone you tend to hate their drawbacks too sometimes. but if you love someone you be in love with their shortcomings too.

Hi there younger bro juni:)
Yeah, I am also confuse of these two words as how they use it.
Well, for me, "Like" is more on the appreciation from your eyes as well as from your imaginations and "love" is more from your heart.
Oh well, that is how I use this words. hehehe *smile*

To me the difference is, you can like anything, but you can love only a few things.

The difference between like and love is shown by the variation in the levels of emotion. If you like someone or something, that indicates you are pleased (on the surface) by that person or that occurrence. However, if you love a person (or some activity) that suggests that your level of commitment is from your heart. It also suggests that there is a deep bond between yourself and the individual that you love. Therefore, the two words are not able to be used interchangeably.

Love is a much deeper feeling than like. If you love someone, you'll tolerate a lot more than if you just like someone. Usually when you love someone, you've gotten to know that person. More often than not, liking someone does not really require getting to know a certain someone, whereas, it does with love. Thus, love is a much STRONGER feeling and much more complicated than like.

Im sure the interpretation of the words may vary from person to person. In my opinion they are 2 completely differant meanings in that context.
To like would be to have a fondness of another. Or an infatuation which is easily misconstrued as "love"
To love in its purest form would be a undeviating, un swaying, undeniable bond between two people. This can be family or an outside person. I do not use the word love loosley as many so often seem to these days.
To love family is common, but i do not believe one can love a significant other in a few days, this is infatuation not love. To love is to be willing to give all for one cause or one person. To love is to deny yourself outright for this cause or person. To love is to die, but to die is to live in this love. Love is power to ones soul, love is fuel, love truly is blind and love is unfading. (true love anyway)

lol. at last I found the Holy Grail. Somebody would ask what is love and like difference. And the responders, I can learn something in here. Most women's perspectives are like this, most men's perspectives are like that :)
It's a blur shoot out sometimes from the person who said that word. It may refer to something casual meaning or can be something possesive meaning, but the idea is back to the same end, "fond of".
Then here comes the part who heard this word. It make big difference, of course. Person who heard can make more than two perspectives from the talking subject. Now he said like me, means not love me. --or-- now he said love me, he must like me "deeply", etc.
It's back to its each talking person and the target subject to diversify the point of the word. Need some more explanation after first question, like "So, what do you mean, you like me only? means you're not love me?" and then the conversation moves on, and you will get the conclusion on the next answer.

Hi, There is not much difference. Frankly speaking Love starts from liking and it's important also. First of all both the girl and boy should have liked each other. That should not be look wise liking but it should be character wise and other habit related likes. After this only we can build a strong relationship.

For me the difference is that I like someone when he does something nice, be it a family member, or a friend or someone that I just met, no matter. When I say I love the thing changes though, as I do not say it for small things, like the I like you.

I have often heard the saying:
'I love a particular person but I do not like them very much at a particular moment in time.' The basis could be that you completely dislike what that person has done, but that you love them, as a result of family ties.
Also bear in mind that love can be manifested in a physical manner or platonically, but liking does not mean the possibility of a degree of intimacy.
