I haven't had professional pictures taken, since my kids were small. They have pictures taken, but I don't think they have professional ones taken, every holiday. I would, eventually, like to have one taken with all the kids and grandkids. I'd like to lose a few pounds first, I don't like the way that I look in photso, anymore. lol

My family is all about candid shots, so we have to take an obscene amount of holiday photos every year. Like everytime you go to open a gift, you have to pose for a picture or you see a flash out of the corner of your eye. ha ha. My family has always been about taking pictures though, so I'm pretty much used to it by now.:P

I have not gotten professional pictures done in years. My daughter is sixteen and she just is not into the family right now. She is more interested in freinds. My husband and I are not really picture people. We take a few home videos but not many. When my daughter was younger we had a Christmas picture done every year. Then we had a picture take with my mom and my daughter and me to see the three generations side by side. That was interesting. I think pictures are important but they do not have to be done by a proffessional since they are expensive now. I like the home pictures because you get caught off gaurd and in interesting positions.

One year my sis got pix at one of those photo places. They looked wonderful, but she can take nearly as good pictures herself so that's what we do.
We didn't get any last xmas so this summer when she was here & my niece was too, we took it outside my bro's condo. Looked really good.

I have taken my own pictures the last few years, but when my son was smaller I would have his picture taken professionally once a year. We have had a family picture taken professionally only a few times. I just love to take pictures. Everytime I see my granddaughters (ages 2 and 6) I always take there picture. One day I would love to have the whole family in a photo. :)

Your babies are adorable. I occasionally had the kids photos done at the local department store. I got really agitated when they offered the nearly okay photos as the package deal and the perfect ones as the optional. At that point the good deal on pictures became a big price. I started to take more pics at home.

I take them myself. I love to take photographs, especially scenic ones, so I have a digital camera. That means that I can take huge numbers, delete the ones which are not so good, and upload the better ones onto my computer. From there, I can print them off onto photo paper in any numbers I wish, at far less expense, or I can save them to disc and just look at them when I want to. I find this way much easier and financially more viable.
Brightest Blessings.

Yes, I agree with you. The digital camera is a wonderful piece of equipment. Mine even takes short videos. I took one of Gissi rolling on the Patchouli wrapping that time. The scent of it seemed to drive him crazy, but unfortunately the video file is to big to upload to YouTube, or send to Gabs, and I'm not clued up enough to know how to cut it, so it sits on my computer where only I can see it... I want to share. :(

We take a bunch of pictures at home year round. Last year we took around 100 on Christmas day.
We also went and got pictures done at Walmart for Christmas last year. We bought a bunch. We're suckers. lol We got the cheap package of a picture of the three of us, and then some individual ones of Elliott as well.
We actually took Elliott to get his picture taken every month for the first year, and then again at 18 months. So we have a card for 10% off the pictures we buy from the studio in Walmart, and we get a free 8x10 (of a different pose) every time as well.

I always take my own pictures of our Christmas get togethers now that my kids are grown. But even when they were young, I took home pictures more. I would take them at least once a year though to Walmart or Kmart of someplace like that for a good professional picture, I never have been a fan of the school pictures, they are too pricey for the quality. You are right, you can get really good prices at the walmart photo studios.

Hi Hun! Ever since having our daughter last year my hubby and I made a pact that every year we will be going to Walmart to get Christmas photos done. The main reason being that all of my family live far away and all of his live in the same province but in different cities about a 3 hour drive from us. They make great Christmas presents, and around the holidays you can usually get a great package deal!
Love & Hugzz, Your Friend PurpleTeddyBear ;)

I've done both, myself. I usually just take my son to Wal-Mart for pictures since the backgrounds are really cute and the packages are so cheap. Also, you can buy the cards and cut off the card part leaving you with additional 3x5 pictures. So you can get the cheap package and mix up the cards with other pictures from the session for cheaper than buying single sheets.

I take them, because its more fun. Last year my daughter couldn't get home from college, so I photo shopped her into the picture. Funny how some people didn't know that. Also, my son stood on his head next to us in the picture. It was fun, shows our personalities.

hi 3lilangels,
We usually take our own Christmas pictures. Years ago, we had them done professionally. It is only my husband and I now so my daughter takes that one.
I had five children, so those were taken professionally. It was a lot easier. With seven people in one picture, there is always someone playing around, so it takes many shots to get the right one.
Happy posting..
