Have you ever had a near death experience? Did it change your life?
I've had a couple in my life. I was hit by a car when I 17 which made me never want to drive. I was almost killed by my abusive ex-husband which made me wary of men till I met my Hubby who's wonderful even if he is an old goat LOL.
My Mom was shot in her left arm on the inside of her elbow by her Grandfather by accident when she was in her early 20's which made her terrified of guns.
Have you ever been right on that line between life and death?

I haven't ever had one. But today I got so scared. I went out to check the mail and my son was walking into the back yard to go play. I thought I'd get the mail and catch back up with him before he got in the back. Well I checked my mail and then I look up and he is in the street (how he got up there so fast and got by me without me seeing him I will never know). He wasn't in the middle of the street or anything but he was right at the edge of the driveway and the street. He's only 17 months old and there was a car coming. I about freaked out. I grabbed him up and walked back down to the house. I was so scared and I kept thinking what if that car would have not seen us and hit us. I'm so glad that nothing bad happened. It was just a freak accident because I thought he was walking towards the back and I didn't even see him until I looked up. Kids are sooo fast. When I picked him up I didn't holler or anything because I didn't want him to think I was mad at him. I did tell him that he can never go into that road again because he could have gotten hit and killed. Thank God I was right there with him and could just pick him right up before the car got up there to us. I was so upset though.

I was in a car accident in the early 70's and I thought I was dying as I was unable to breathe and I was going unconscious.
Another time at a place called Luna Park I was on a ride with my two daughters and my ex and I thought I was going to fall out. I was terrified. I thought my baby daughter would fall out too.
My husband was very violent and while I was beaten, he was careful not to leave marks or do much damage, but each time he hurt me a bit worse. I managed to get away before that could happen. He had threatened to kill me.
Since I left him, no-one else has hit me.

Hi twoey68,
I'm sorry to hear about these incidents in your life. I've had a couple of things happen too. I was on a plane quite a few years back, that I felt sure was going to crash, due to extreme turbulence, and a dive that the plane took. I also could've drowned when I was a kid, due to an incident where my friend was horsing around, and held me down under the water. I'm sure too, that there are 'likely' times that I wasn't even aware of, when something 'could've' happened. These things helped to put my life into perspective, and to be thankful.

Probably the closest call I've had, twoey, was an automobile crash in 1967. Ironically, I was on my way to the doctor when it happened. A car broadsided us and we spun into a tree head-on. Of the 4 people in our car, I was the only one who was seriously injured. It took many months of recovery and pain, but I managed to pull through. Since then I have always had a fear of riding in cars, but that is unrealistic. I have managed to overcome my fear to the extent that I can ride in a car, but I'm always very nervous.

I have had many, the last one lead to me going out with a guy who I should never have been with. I learned my lesson from that.

Let's see, I almost drowned when I was about 11, but I don't think it had a real impact on me. I tell you what did though. In August 2001, I was robbed at gunpoint. Before this happen, I was always depressed and claiming that I wanted to die. After this experience, I stopped saying that. It made me realize that I wanted to LIVE.

Hi,
I too had really bad experience. I was going with my friend on her 2 wheeler. And all of a sudden, everything was blackout. she actually lost her control and hit another 2 wheeler. She got severely injured on her arms and face. I got minor bruises on my elbows. She was unconscious and many people gathered near us. It was on a highway and the people told me that it was an accident spot. I was so scared that I could not speak and was in pain. I was also scared for my friend. there were small hotels near so someone brought ice. We rubbed ice on my friend's face and after some time she got conscious. She looked really horrible due to the bruises on her face and her expressions. We sat in the hotel for some time and rubbed ice on my friend's face. AFter that we went. She dropped me to my home and she went to her home. She was taken to a doctor by her mother. It was really a scary experience for me. I hope that anyone who is driving should be very alert and should not be distracted by thoughts. Be safe and take care.
