Okay, well I drink coffee everyday. At least a half a pot in the morning and sometimes a whole pot at night. I work a lot, So coffee just fits into my schedule. So, I have heard that coffee stunts your growth (personally, I am 24 years old and completly grown, lol - so im not worried about that) and that if you drink too much it will make your skin look old and its not good for your health and such. Are any of these things TRUE? And if not, what are ACTUAL facts of drinking a lot of coffee?
Thanks in advance!

OK, I don't know much about the coffee research, I too have heard that it stunts your growth. And as for skin looking old and not good for your health, I have to comment. Coffee, if not drank in excess is MUCH better for you than that carbonated sodapop people drink. People can get asthma from soda, while coffee (while black) is actually known to HELP cure the symptoms. Coffee is a good remedy for home remedy uses. And as for the skin comment, when you get older, your skin gets older. It's probably just a coincidence that people look old and wrinkily after drinking a bunch of coffee. I highly doubt that it makes your skin do that, your skin does it automatically! Now, like I said, I'm no coffee expert, I go by personal experiences. Being only 18 and fully grown, I really don't care if it stunts growth. My husband is 6'5" and still growing according to our doctor...He needs to drink some more coffee! :P

I've been drinking coffee all my life pretty much. I'm 25 years old and only 5 foot even, however my whole family is short so I don't think coffee had anything to do with it. I don't know about any health problems, all I know is if I don't get my coffee I've got a headache and I'm very disagreeable. As for my skin it looks good to me. And I know a woman who drinks coffee constantly and she's almost 50 and she looks great too.

There have been a lot of reports that coffee is one of the best sources of antioxidants. Antioxidants help prevent or slow down cancer.
So I guess it's okay to have a few cups a day. I love coffee, but I drink it in moderation.

Anything which is too much is bad, same as coffee. Coffee contains caffeine which is bad to our health. My cousin had been hospitalized for too much drinking coffee. She thought that it would be okey to drink it just like juices, she is not aware, she had almost finish a pint of ice cold coffee, afterwards she didn't feel well. When her mom found out something's wrong with her, we send her to the hospital, and yeah that coffee is the cause.

I think it partly depends on you and your tolerance for caffeine - if you're sensitive to the stuff and your heart races out of your body then coffee's not good for you.
Also if you have too much sleeping can be a problem.
Also coffee's a bit of a diuretic and so if you have a predisposition for kidney probs...
Those things aside, I think coffee in relative moderation is probably benign and may even be good for you. I've drunk coffee in fairly large amounts (10+ cups a day) and recently have been consuming lots of espresso, with no health effects so long as I do not drink it in the evening (it makes me awake!)
It does lead to dependence, though... if I have a day w/o coffee, I have a bad headache!

As anything else, of course it's wise too exercise moderation when drinking coffee. The primary source of problems in coffee is the caffeine, which can have detrimental too your cardiovascular system in high doses; however, in small doses it has been shown to have good effects on memory and brain function.
Also, you need too consider how you drink your coffee, I have made a huge change by switching from sugar to Splenda brand sweetener, since I like my coffee essential one third coffee, one third sugar, one third creamer. The cream and sugar can quickly add on the pounds!

I have been drinking coffee for about 5 years now. I am 5 ft and 44 years old. I got my shortness from something *other* than coffee. LOL I have heard that it can be bad for you...the caffine. I have heard that it can be good for you...antioxidants.
"Drinking coffee can help ward off type 2 diabetes and may even help prevent certain cancers.
coffee may increase the risk of leukemia and stomach cancer, with the case for leukemia being strongest."
are some of the arguements that I have found.
