i've played badminton back in college and i was okay but i never really liked it because i thought the ball was too small to be hit by the small racket.^__^;;on the other hand, i have never played tennis but it looks really fun and easy to learn and play. and because i love the anime Prince of tennis! LOL
so i would definitely choose tennis.^__^

You get used to hitting the shuttle in badminton after some practice.
That's not a bad reason to prefer tennis I guess... from what I've heard the anime is very good! :)

ack! I was thinking about table tennis and not badminton when I was responding to this discussion! LOL but i've also played badminton when I was in highschool, table tennis on college. ^__^;; I also enjoyed playing badminton and i've won some games during our intramurals. I was never able to continue playing it though because I concentrated on softball. ^__^
Prince of Tennis is a really good anime. they have a lot of tennis techniques there and although some are impossible to do, some can be done in real life. and after all, its an anime so its understandable if the characters do impossible things. ^__^

Sounds like you play quite a wide range of sports! :)
My friend told me the moves in Prince of Tennis are really crazy, but if it wasn't like that, most people would probably just watch real tennis...

I have never played tennis, but I used to play pingpong a lot. I am not a very good pingpong player, but I love it and often played it with my friends in the big room on campus. We could play for a few hours when we were addicted to it. I miss it very much.

That is great to hear you like the sport. I guess you could play table tennis/ping pong against a wall... although that's not really the same... perhaps if you have the time you could join a table tennis club? And maybe invite your friends to join too, so you can all play again!

I guess that feeling of excitement is due at least partly to adrenaline, which is great! Implies that you enjoy the game

I don't play either, but I named 2 cats, brother, Ping and Pong.
I named them that because their sister was a tortie point siamese and I named her after a Chinese co-worker so I named the "Wonder Twins" after the game that opened up Red China.
they will be 4 this May

I know China is the best at table tennis, but I haven't heard of that many players, of the three you mentioned, I've only heard of Ma Lin.
Unfortunately table tennis isn't a sport that gets played on television here in New Zealand, we're all about rugby . I think the only time it gets played is during the Olympics, I try to watch the games then .

I like to play Table Tennis more than Tennis.
I had played Tennis before and it was easily tiring, having to control the ball over the space of the lawn.
I would prefer the Table Tennis for it has a smaller space to control the ball over the table.
I love Table Tennis! :)

You definitely have to run more playing tennis...
You have to be precise in both sports, but I guess it is easier doing so on a smaller, table tennis, table...

Table tennis certainly strikes me as being more popular in Asia than tennis, don't let that prevent you in any way from enjoying tennis though! :)

That's nice, you must be pretty good at it then!
I don't have a favourite to win table tennis at the Olympics... may the best player win!

To get interested in Tennis, I have to become a member of a club or sportbody to utilize their grounds, net, and even to get experienced partners. Whereas in table tennis, if one has a big house, one can have the tables set in their own place and everyone wants to play, because it is least expensive (forget about the investment on table). My in-laws have table and they play table tennis. It is less strenenous to knees and body compared to tennis where one gets exhausted soon running all over the court. Incidentally my mother-inlaw who is very fragile, aged about 70 is still the champion when we play matches among the family members. In fact by having table at home, they have made a lot of friends who keep coming to their house to play TT.

That is very true, a table tennis table is quite easy to place in one's lounge or other room if it is of size. And table tennis bats and balls are a LOT cheaper to buy and replace compared to their lawn tennis counterparts.
I hope I'm still as active as your mother in law when I'm 70!

i used to play table tennis or ping pong before. it was my favorite sport. i find the game very exhaustive because you have to move fast all the time. your eyes have to be keen and quicker to follow up the movements of the ball itself. in fact, i garnered a trophy for doubles.

I have played both and I guess I like tennis a little better. But I haven't played either one for a very long time. I used to play table tennis at lunch where I used to work but it was mostly doubles because there was only one table and many players. In graduate school a friend and I, in effect, built a table that we put in the little conference room across the hall from our lab. We went out and bought the right size of plywood board, tied it to the top of her car, carted it up to the 11th floor, put it on the conference table, painted it, etc. So when we wanted to play and it the room wasn't in use we would take it from where it was leaning against the wall and put it on the table and play. So you can't do that with a tennis court.

I can play table tennis, but I too am only so-so, I only started a few months ago so I'm still learning how to hit the ball with speed and using good technique and such.
