I think a routine that you choose should be balanced, to accomidate your needs and the needs of your child. I have a routine with my children that I started with them when they were just babies, but I enjoy having my day written out before me, while others like to have the day open to decide what they may do on the spur of the moment. SO, firstly you must decide which category you and your baby will fall into. THere is no right or wrong routine, (unless of course it isn't working for your baby, in which case you will notice that almost immediately) IT is all dependent upon how many naps your child takes, how much food they consume and how long they sleep for. I would suggest, as I have done with both of my boys, to include some time ffor quite play for your child, where they play by themselves, safely in a play pen. with a seven month old you could start them out at 10-15 minutes, and then work your way up to 45 minutes to an hour gradually. My youngest 13 months stays and plays in his for an hour a day, while my oldest son will play in his room for an hour and a half, w/out complaining. THis has been invaluable for me, and my children benifit from time spent alone.
WHatever you decide, make sure it works for you, a schedule or a routine is designed to assist you, not dictate your life, so if the one you make is not working, scrap it and try again. Good lUck!

You have a very good point there.Children are different actually and so the routine should work for the parents.
