Hi people, ever since I started visiting a certain website I am getting these strange popups the whole time. For example I will be looking on myLot and all of a sudden this pop-up comes, everytime it says Looksearch, so the pop-up is of a search enginge called looksearch. I have never used this search engine before, Does anybody know a good virus scanner, because I have tried cleaning up my pc and let my system run for errors. But it does not find anything, and the stupid pop-up still keeps coming everytime I surf the net. What virus scanner do you use?

i have been building computers for 7 years and i would not ever suggest norton of any kind to my clients, i have rebuilt dozens of computers over the years all of which used norton and had the most viruses of all the computers i have serviced, i would suggest avg before i'd suggest norton and avg aint much better than norton.
i have been using avast antivirus for my computer, and i have never had a virus in my computer, and when i bought this computer it came with norton on it and in the first 6 months i was cleanning out 4 to 6 viruses every week, then i put avast on and no more viruses so you do the math

you can try avast..it's good and not that big or heavy on the system..i find mcafee too heavy..so i would suggest avast..that's what i use in all my units here..you can get urself a trojan guard too..it runs on the system all the time and it detects all trojan viruses...so there..they're all downloadable and free...

Hello,
Base on your description, it appears that your problem is cause by spyware programs and not a virus.
Spyware are different from virus software, and to remove a spyware, you need to run anti spyware program.
Anti virus software removes virus and not spyware programs, unless that anti virus has a anti spyware embedded program.
Some anti virus company such as McAfee do offer anti spyware program as well. However you may want to try searching for a free anti spyware program to remove your spyware on your computer.
there are programs you can download for a free trial. Those programs can stop the popups and the search box that appears on your computer.

I really like the virus scanner I use: AVG. It's free, but if you want more bells and whistles you can take the paid-version. I have the free one and it keeps my pc up and running without problems.

I think Macafee and Nod32 is a good one.If you install norton the performance becomes slower. After inatalling the antivirus dont forget to ugrade it after each week.Daily new and new virus are comming. With out updating it your pc get infected with new viruses.

I have always used McAfee and I like it best. When I first got a computer, it had Norton on it and there were a lot of things that it wouldn't do, so I switched to McAfee. Now they both do about the same thing, but I stick with McAfee.

The anti-virus which I think is good is AVG 7.5 which is even free. You don't have to pay for any cent at all to be able to use and take advantage of it. I don't intend to use a free antivirus software for all the time. Hopefully soon, I can buy a complete antivirus software which can really protect my computer from all the viruses, trojans or whatever harms my computer. There are also lots of good antivirus programs which you don't have to pay a single cent. Avast is good too.. Overall, AVG antivirus is I think the best since that's what I am using now and it works fine for me.

I prefer Norton but if you looking for a free one then you can try AVG Antivirus or Avira.

I think Nod32 is the best solution if you can pay about 50 dollars; otherwise I would suggest Avast! as a good free antivirus.

I used to use Trend Micro PC Cillin but you gotta pay for that one. Now I use Avast. Its free and does the job. Also Firefox is a lot better browser. Internet Explorer has security holes. Although I don't know if IE 7 has security holes and what not.
