What are the chances?

England will play the Aussies this week and if they don't buck up their ideas they will be on their way home. Although there were occasional flashes of brilliance in the performance against Tonga to beat the Wallabies thet have to pull out all the stops and do what they're good at. If they tie the ball up and dot let the Australians run at them, play a territorial game, they can slide to victory from the end of Wilkinsons left boot. What chance do you give them?

Don't think this year is going to be the year for England unless Johny Wilkinson pulls off a miracle. England were not too good against Tonga and will find the Australians a much harder team to be beat - and besides the Wallabies will be out to settle scores with them.

Well, you're right, I was definately proved wrong and I think good on England for pulling it off. And as much as I think the All Blacks are the best team in the world playing the best rugby, all credit to the French for having pulled something out of the bag and making magic - this certainly makes the world of rugby far more interesting!

For the record, I now think England's chances of winning have just gone through the roof now that they are in the Final. They either face Argentinia or South Africa - the Argentinians are at this level for the first time and may struggle to meet expectations - South Africa beat England in the group stages and it seems that when teams that play against each other at the group level meet in a knock out stage - the chances of the winning team ending up the looser usually end up quite good.
