I've never had a license, so I've never had a car. I walk and use public transportation. So many pluses to this. I don't spend money on gas, I get excercise and I always arrive at work on time - unlike every co-worker I've ever worked with who drives. Also, when my co-workers cars break down - even if they live closer to work then me, their whole world shuts down, they can't get to work. Of course, I never have any problem and I don't have a car. Its freeing not having a car.
Great discussion.

I don't have a license in the UK, so I don't drive here. Occasionally I'll ask my boyfriend to dive me to work, but I usually take the Metro (subway), or once in a while, a bus. To be honest, I hate dealing with the Metro---the machines never take my change so I miss my train, which means I'm always running to work to be on time. On the other hand, there is a station right by my house, so it's fairly convenient in that way.
I can't wait until the day we're able to teleport.

I go to work by bus. In my city there is very good public transport. (Buses, trams, trolley-buses)

In my country (Philippines), not all who are working can afford to buy a car. We use various mode of transportation such as:
1. Jeep - a passenger will have to pay php7.00; a jeep can accommodate 16-28 passengers depending upon the size of the jeepney.
2. Taxi cab - a metered taxi cab in which it starts at php35.00
3. Tricycle - a three-wheeled vehicle which can accommodate 3-8 passengers depending upon the size of the tricycle
4. Pedicab - this is called "padyak" in our vernacular; this is a bicycle with attached wagon beside it and can accommodate up to 4 passengers though the driver will have a hard time pushing the pedal.
5. Bicycle - an ordinary bicycle or a mountain bike are common sights in the streets
6. Others
