Like I would hurt one of his dogs to get back at him... Get real, please!

My boyfriend and I have not been getting along at all recently. Well, we haven't gotten along well since I moved in with him. Earlier this month, I had to be admitted to the hospital with Right Ventricular Congestive Heart Failure. I'm scheduled to go to a rehab facility for an undetermined length of time, leaving the hospital as early as Monday morning. But when I was first admitted to the hospital, my boyfriend came to visit for a while and we ended up in an argument. He said he was fearful that I would harm one of his dogs to get back at him. Instantly, I became angry and very hurt. I eventually told him that he wasn't important enough for me to hurt his dogs. I mean, they may be his dogs, but they are MY puppies. I spend time with those dogs together and individually, giving them more love and attention than he ever thought about giving them. I talk to them, they are my confidants, my companions, my photographic subjects, my playmates, and my cuddle buddies. I could never hurt those dogs for any reason. I'm still hurt.

People say strange things when they are in a stressful situation. Have you given him any reason to think you would harm his dogs?

Actually, I said nothing to give him reason to think I would harm his dogs. In fact, I was so hurt that I began to cry and told him that if he was really that worried about his dogs, then I wouldn't go anywhere near his dogs when I came to collect the rest of my belongings. I think he began to see just how far he'd gone by that time, but for me, he'd crossed a line that could not be bridged.
