I usually try to read before I do anything else too, like right as soon as I wake up I keep a book next to my bed so I can pick it up and read it.

I think night time is th ebest time to read. I usually go through my entire day wanting to read my book, but I hold myself back so that at night...when Im in my pajamas, relaxed in my bed or even curled up on the couch I can sit and read and NOT be disturbed by the phone or neighboors or co-workers. I always read at night and I find it to be relaxing during that time and usually I get right to sleep after.

Yep, me too. I never read books/novels during the day.
I will take a nice warm bath, put on my pajamas and wait until I am in bed to read. It is the most relaxing thing to do to unwind after a long day.
It is better than a sleeping pill for me. I have had this habit since high school. It is hard for me to go to sleep without reading first. It is hard for me to read at any other time because I need the peace and quiet of the night.
Daytime noises are such a distraction for me.

I enjoy reading at anytime, but often wait until evening. If I start reading early in the day nothing else will get done, because I won't want to put my book down.
I think it also depends on why you are reading. If I where reading for a class or to study I think earlier would be better, because the mind and the eyes are rested. But since I mostly read for enjoyment, I like the evening, because it is relaxing and is a treat after accomplishing my tasks for the day.

midmorning and at night :)
I usually read at night since I'm more relaxed and could focus on the story or topics I'm reading. Afternoons can make me sleepy.:)

I do like reading before bed, it helps me get tired, but it also helps me stay focused on my reading. Like I can't sleep until I finish this chapter.

I like reading in the the early afternoon, when the sun is shining brightest.

I find the best time to read is early morning when my eyes are fresh. Sometimes I start during my breakfast and carry on until lunchtime.
I don't like to read in artificial light too much because it strains my eyes, and i fall asleep.
Brightest Blessings.

I find reading in the evening is more relaxing for me. I used to read fast, but now I read at a slower rate so it helps me relax. If I read in the morning or afternoon, I cannot retain what I have read. Must be the ADD. LOL

For me, the best time to read is morning hours when I am energetic and feel effective in my work and study. I don't like afternoon hours when I am so sleepy and less productive in my work. Evening hours can be also good time of the day if I have a good nap in the afternoon.
