Having a bad hair day?

I am in the process of trying to let my hair grow longer and while it is good most day, today it is frizzy fly away and just a mess, and makes me wonder if it is worth all the trouble. I used to have a concentration camp style cut you know 1 inch long and run fingers through as needed. But there are days I start looking for the scissors like today, Any one got a solution that is reasonable in price and works for you? I would love to hear from you Robin

I'm no help, since it's been almost 2 years since I had my last hair cut. I just pull mine back into a ponytail and that's that. And every time I think I'm going to get it cut and styled, kids or hubby start whining about their hair, so I've pretty much given up on the idea. So for you my friend, other than maybe putting to use some hair gel or spray, I've got nothing in the way of ideas. Good luck hon.

A couple of things that really help me with the frizzies- number one, don't use heat on your hair at all if you can help it. Try to let your hair air dry naturally, if that's an option. Number two-not sure what type of hair you have, but leaving the conditioner in, rather than rinsing out, has really helped me sometimes. Just shampoo your hair, towel dry, then add a small amount of conditioner (don't overload your hair with it). Then let air dry.

P.S. If you have a way of putting your hair up, pulling parts of it back (like with barrettes), that might help you get through that awkward period of growing it out. I know that's its just a pain to deal with. That's why I'm never cutting my hair really short again.

Thank you for the information, I very seldom use heat on my hair as it is getting thin I guess that comes with age, and another reason why I like it longer as when short I can see my scalp, and I do not care for that effect

I have been using Frizz Ez products. The Dove brand worked quite well. I got a sample of it and used the contents for a few days. It was great.

Robin I guess I should have gave you the compliment earlier and I honestly thought of doing so, but because we don't know each other I didn't. I'm sorry now I didn't after reading your post. Here goes what I think. There was nothing wrong with the pictures of you before but after seeing the update I need to tell you if that is really you on your avator, I think you shouldn't change a thing. You are a very nice looking lady and when the avator changed I thought it was someone else and I thought for sure you deleted yourself off my friends list till I realized. The change has made you 10 years younger Robin. I wished I had your looks. Take Care my friend.

thank you for the complement I do like my hair longer it is just that I have no idea on how to take care of it as I never had to before, and I have a few products to keep the curlers and not frizzy but when it is high humidity it goes ape irregardless. thanks again yes that is me the picture was taken about 3 weeks ago I have on my profile a few that I took when I first started on my lot and I do like it better long so I will keep on the struggle. So glad to hear from you I have been house sitting and get fed up with this site every once in a while so not a frequent visitor. I hope all is well in you part of the world and that you are feeling better. Robin

Hi Robin, I used to have that same problem but now I have been using the hydrant shampoo from Avon and it has tamed down my frissies. My hair stylist said that if you layer cut your hair that can make a difference also. Hope this helps hugs Brenda

Ok Here it goes, When you reach that "in-between" stage you need to create a "temp-look" Like putting gel and playing with different looks in front of a mirror. The best way to deal with this process in an inexpensive way. Other than that if you really want to have long hair ASAP. think of hairextensions This is however, pretty expensive.

Bad Hair Day - Hair is the most difficult thing for me to manage
I like to grow my hair longer, but I am not able to manage it properly and all it remains in a messed up state always, so i decided to cut it short and make it manageable.

I find that gel is ideal for keeping my hair in place, although having said that I always keep my hair short because I hate long hair, it gets all wispy and untidy so it's always short, see the photo, mind you I have gel in my hair in the photo! Short hair suits me, long hair I look like a unkempt tramp lol!

I am doing the same and going mad! I have been straightening my hair everyday since high school. Using huge hot curlers, my hair would not grow because of all of the heat and I had a lot of damage. I cut 8 inches off of my hair and let it dry naturally now, it is very curly and frizzy. I do put 3 curlers in the top to make that at least more manageable. So, here I am with curly out of control hair, talking myself out of the hot curlers every single day! So, I read a few articles and forums on how other women are doing the same thing. I have found that after washing my hair in the morning, using a small amount of conditioner, then after combing applying just a dab of mousse my hair looks so much better and less out of control. I can't wait until my hair grows out! It worked for me, I hope that it will work for you if you want to try. Hang in there!

Have you tried Garnier Frutiss? The Garnier shampoo with the fruit extracts really do make my hair smoother if you haven't tried them yet please do before you cut your hair.

On my off days, when I don't feel like messing with my hair, I like to wear a colorful bandana instead. When my hair was a teeny bit longer, I could pull it back into little pigtails and that was really cute but my hair is shor now, and I can't pull that off any longer. If you don't like the idea of a bandana, you can try one of those wide headbands to keep your hair under control.
