Do You Celebrate Halloween? Why, or Why Not?

I am not a fan of Halloween for a gazillion different reasons. Of course, I don't like the message--how did it start, why did it start? Do you know? Plus, I never have enough candy for all those little goblins and ghosts. And usually I buy gobs of it even when I'm broke. Oh well, I hope all our kids stay safe this year. And don't forget to check all that candy.

Thanks for the link, Lakota. Hope your grand daughter will get over her Skooby fears soon. It's amazing what affects our children. Stay safe now.

Yes, those little ghosts and goblins love to say boo to the neighbors. I might have to gather a lot of extra candy at the local hunting grounds this season. We seemed to have sprung a few extra hundred little scary devils. I agree with you, these days having to check all the candy sure takes a lot of fun out of the evening. In any case, stay safe and have a wonderful Tuesday morning.

We usually don't celebrate or do trick or treating during Holloween. But during these days, I enjoy and love watching horror movies , talkshows and other scary shows that aired in the television.

Oh my, if there was any kind of movie I didn't like it would be the horror genre. Scary! Wait, you think talkshows are scary too. That's funny.

During the month of November, Talkshows always features scary stories, experiences, beliefs such as tikbalang(filipino legendary creatures), known as centaurs of western imagination, a half horse, half human hybrid.

Although I live in Australia, where it is not highly embraced or celebrated, I very much enjoy Halloween and have gone Trick-or-Treating every year since I can remember.
I just think it's a fun occasion to dress up and head out with some friends, for us it's not about the candy and treats, it's not about religion, it's just fun. =]
I know it's based on All Hallow's Eve, but like most other holidays, it's manifested into something very much unlike its origins.

I think most people would say it's all about the fun. And you're right, just like most things in our society it has become a commercial venture. Anyway, thanks for coming by and enjoy the coming holidays.

I'm not really a big fan of Halloween either. I get tired of handing out candy to kids that look way too old. Not to mention the ones who don't even dress up; they just grab a pillowcase and go door to door in their regular school clothes. Or how about the kids who look at you funny if they think you didn't give them enough candy? Thankfully my son is only two and doesn't understand and ask to go trick-or-treating. I'd rather just buy candy for him and not have to worry about it.

Yeah, I know . . . what is up with those big kids and pillow cases? And they usually return for more. Now, if they are actually looking after younger siblings I don't mind giving them candy. Hopefully all the little ghosts and goblin won't be greedy this year. I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. Stay safe for the holidays.
