Do adds and commercials influence what you buy?

Well, they always do a bit at least. However they don't influence me much. IF there is something i want to buy, I'd rather check with friends or people that own that specific thing, or research before I make a decision.
Ads don't always bring the complete information or even if they do it's designed to get us to focus on the pros and not pay much attention to the cons :)
My husband, on the other hand, is often influenced by adds and commercials. I think that the fact that he is much more impulsive than me has something to do with it.
What about you.. how influenced are you by adds?

some of the commercials I see today make me wonder "what the heck that had to do with the product they were trying to sell" sometimes the catchy music will catch my attention,but I dont usually run right out and buy something because I saw it on a commercial. I must admit tho the food ones do make me hungry.

Usually it has no effect on me. Even if it did I wouldn't buy it because I wouldn't have enough money for it.

Nope.
Because I'm aware of the careful placing of words and images...I often don't watch commercials. My mind switches to another subject.
Ergo, it's almost as if the commercial was never on tv for me lol.
I'm not what you call impulsive, anyway. I'm also aware I rarely have any money lol.

I don't think i am.I would watch something and even if I like something I would look at first t some internet site for custmoers opinion.Or I would like to ask some friends, if they have product I wan to buy.But back to commercials.I have just read recently some article about how commercials are doing.For example this nice brown chocolate on tv is not really chocolate, but some colored stuff, so for that it looks so nice fo us customers.Or if there is comercial with tomatoes, they will spray something on them to make them so shiny.It is just about how to get people.

Oh my , Yes! What we see is often not what we'll get if we just run and buy it LOL
I find that in general people are getting more educated and use commercials as an introduction to a product as someone else said in here. They learn that the product exists or was "improved" or whatever and then do their research. That' good.
However there are still many people that will impulsively be trapped by those adds .

and there is an old proverb,
a good product do now require publicity,

i try not to let them bother or influence me too much, but it can't be helped, since the purpose of them is to do that and that alone, it is almost impossible to say that one is not influenced by the commercials on tv. imean they make it look and feel so nice lol
