My hubby likes to go fishing that's why i go with him cause it seems like fun too, we always stop at a bait store to get some bait first, that's how i know that they also use nightcrawlers or worms for bait. i don't like worms so i always ask my husband to hook the worm for me cause i jst can't do it (it's slimy and gross), but one time when we are fishing in the stream, we decided to separate direction since we want to catch more fish and we don't want our lines to get hooked or get stucked w/ each another. My problem was i lost my bait because the fish jst ate it or it got unhooked then i can't ask my husband to hook a worm for me now since he's far from my direction, it would be boring if i won't continue fishing and jst wait for him to comeback so i have no other option but to hook the worm myself, i opened the container and i've seen a lot of them moving there, (trying to be brave) i jst didn't think how gross it was so i grabbed one worm but i dropped it cause it was moving and i got scared, it's so slimy too. well, at least i am trying hard, i picked the worm and started putting it to my hook but i jst can't do it, everytime it moves i'd scream (not loud) cause it's really gross, you know what, it takes me a long time before i did it. how? i jst closed my eyes and imagine it's not a worm then i jst pushed it to the hook, at first, i couldn't push it too much cause i was scared. i couldn't even kill a bug how much more this slimy yucky worm. eewwwwwwww!!! it's really gross! Well, i did it but it's not hooked that much so it got away at once, luckily my husband heard me screaming like a frightened hostage :) he immediately went back to where i am like a rescuer, he knows i'm scared of worms so he helped me hook one to my fishing rod. hayyyyyyy, i didn't know it would be this thrilling for me to go fishing. hehehe.. how about you are you scared of worms? :)

lmao! Poor little worm! hahaha. I absolutely love fishing & baiting my own hooks has never been a problem - worms, prawns, yabbies, squid, chook gut, whatever it is, I'll use it. I've bee doing so since I was a little girl. I also scale, gut, & clean my own fish. When I met my kids father (no longer together) we would go fishing. One day I bought a live worm. He wanted me to bait his hooks, refusing to touch the worm in case it bit him! So much for the macho man! lol! Anyway, I pulled the head off the worm & told him to bait his own damn hook! If you're going to be a real fisherman, you have to handle the bait. Then you can learn the fun job of gutting the fish, lol! If worms creep you out that much, next time you go fishing try prawns, they're not so slimy. Thanks for putting this discussion in - it's given me a good laugh! Good on you for having a go, hun. Good luck!

We are smart. When we go fishing, which is seldom, we use flies or get those plastic things from the bait stores. Mind you the only time I see a lot of worms is in the garden and my sneaky compost file where they are crawling around and if you cut one in half -- but I will not go into it. Like you, I find worms as disgusting little creatures and it is a good thing that they are in the dirt so I do not have to see them. Oh and after a rain when they are washed up on the road, yuk!

Yes, Im scared of worms and I mean any kind of worms. I also had this experience when we were about to go fishing. I was a kid back then. My dad said to search for worms at our backyard. When I saw the worms I was so disgusted. I couldn't even pick-up the worms with my bare hands. I also had this experienced when eating over-riped fruits. I had this trauma when I was eating a guava. It was over-riped. I loved eating guava but, while eating it I noticed some white worms jumping. I screamed at the sight of them and stopped eating. From now on,whenever I eat an over-riped fruit I check first if they're are worms.

No, but I have seen quite a few that are. My two boys had a hard time when they were younger, but my wife has had no problem at all. We are a fishing family and all really enjoy it. My oldest son had a great problem with cricket for a very long time, but thats getting better now.

Hi Claire, Fishing is fun!!!! Worms? EEWWWWWWWWW!!! Won't touch them!!! If I go fishing, I have to go with someone that will put the worm on the hook for me. Or I'll use jigs. Cannot stand to touch a worm. They are so long, slimy, wiggly, and cold. I'll unhook the fish, but will not mess with a worm!!!! Happy posting..
