They killed the time lady!!!

Anyone in so california knows by dialing 8521212 they could get a recording that would tell them the time and update it every ten seconds. Well, they used to be able to anyways. I called the time lady today for the first time since we have been back her and I got a recording stating that as of september 19th, the time lady was gone!!!! I used to even call it long distance when I lived in texas and just add two hours when I needed to reset stuff! But apparently, she is only in existence for a short time longer in nevada, and they have a death sentence for her there too! How sad! Anyone else ever use this service? Who knew it was gone? Why I am always the last to know! It's the end of an era! Google it - the LA times had a long article about it actually! I was disappointed!

I heard they even used to have one in Alaska that told you the temperature! Sadly though.. her days are numbered even in Nevada - the last Time Lady hold out. I am just sorry for the elderly people and blind people who actually relied on this service since their eyes can't help them with a clock - their ears worked just fie, and so this was the only way they could get the time when their was no one else around! Oh well - hope you have a pleasant Monday!
