It's not easy but what I sometimes do is just close my eyes and listen to what's around me. I think it has a lot to do with will power and trying to make yourself not think about certain things.

my friend, hello there. the best way is you start really WRITING. keep a journal or a blog. you have so much going on in that mind that wants to be released. this has been very therapeutic for me. especially when i can't sleep, thoughts start to come, so i decided to write them. whether i am sad, angry, or simply inspired. when i go over my writings, i surprised myself. i have great thoughts. ans that i need to share them to the world. write more my friend....happy writing and sharing, take care, perry

I've been there and it's hard not to think especially when there are a lot of things going on around you.
I tried reading the scriptures about relaxing and surrender to the Lord all my worries. It worked for me, it might work for you too. Though it's not that easy. It's hard to break a habit.

Just lie back on a bed or lounge and listen for sounds you hear in the background. that works everytime for me anyway.
