I want to make homemade gifts for my parents and in-laws this year. One thing I was thinking of was getting a flower pot and putting a sunflower in it. On the outside, I was going to put a picture of my son and the family member on the outside. But I need it to say something catchy on the outside, but I am having trouble figuring it out. I was thinking of something like, "Growing strong with love" or something equally cheesy. Do you have any ideas?
If not, are there any homemade gifts you like to give?

"love makes the family grow strong", I love it. Do you mind if I steal it?

The cheesiest is sometimes the best, I like that saying. I think it would be nice painted in a border around the picture or just on the rim of the pot. Very cute idea.

I think that's a bright idea. Personally, I don't have the luxury of time and funds just yet; but I really love to sit down and make something for them. But I like the idea of baking for them, a cake maybe. I haven't tried cooking a special meal for them. Another suggestion I have in mind is to make jewelries for them; fancy ones, of course. Still another option and one that I have done for my parents is give them a body massage. With their clothes on, okay, just to be clear. My parents, especially my mom, love that. They commented once that they feel refreshed and had a good night's sleep afterwards. I also do hair color for them.

I would love to get a homemade gift like that...it's a very good idea.
I have had my kids make peanut butter, chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies and we give them in baskets that we wrap with the different colored Saran wrap and make BIG bow for them. It's a family project and everyone gets to be a part of the making and giving (and cookie eating!)

Hi cheryl2783, I think that is a wonderful idea and I like that saying, I think your in-laws would love it. (I would) Another homemade gift I like to give is the mixes in a jar. I have a recipe book where I can make all kinds of things from flavored coffee and teas to cakes, cookies and soups that I put into a mason jar with the recipe typed neatly and tied with a ribbon. This is a great gift because you can make up the very healthy ones like the soup for those who may have a restricted diet. And for those who can eat anything, the variety of cookies and cakes are really good.. I believe it is a gift for everyone because everyone had to eat. (Of course if they can't cook that may be a problem..lol)

Thank you. I'm glad you like it. My son's birthday is on New Years Eve, so it is a very expensive time of year. Especially because this is his first birthday.
I like the jar idea. I'll have to think of what they might like. Thanks

That is a cute idea. I love to bake, so I usually bake gifts. I have tried the jar things before and a few relatives appreciate it, but my brothers are too lazy to make the mix. So, I started just baking their gifts. I have made several different kids of cookies, cakes, and brownies. last year I made spiced nuts for everyone. This year I am making my own popcorn tins. I have a recipe that tastes like the store bought Crunch n Munch.

I think it's cute.
I think the gift of a flower in a pot is cool. I'm partial to sunflowers. Hope you get either a miniture if they want to keep it in the pot or they have land if you are going to have a regular-sized one.
I bake, like everyone else that I read. But sometimes I make up baskets with a theme. Like a gardening one could have small hand tools and gardening gloves in a little basket or in a bucket they could use to bring to the garden.
I think the picture is a sweet idea. What will you be covering the picture with so it stays nice even when it gets wet/dirty. Neat ideas, take care.
