You have to think not only thrice but think it all over. Your father might be right in his refusal about the person or there are circumstances when parents doesn't see the whole picture. But sometimes trust your parents' intuition. They feel and know what's best for their child.

i agree with you,flowerfactory. at most times, the decision of our parents on some matters come from their gut feel, or say, their intuition. their love for us has made their sixth sense more effectively at work. this is because the parents will always feel deep within them, the full responsibility to take care of their children at all costs. we can hear from the testimonies of a lot of people that the good life has come unto them after marriage becuase, they took heed of the advises of their elders to heart. if this is so, then it is best to do so.

if this happened to me, i will talk lengthily to my father about it. what are his reasons and what has made him say such a pronouncement. if the arguments and reasons that my father tells are all valid, then surely i will heavily consider my father's decision on the matter. if my father's reasons and arguments are senseless, though, then i might think over and over as to what has cuased my father to say those odd things about the guy whom i am about to have a sealed relationship. it is always best to listen to the wisdom of our elders yet, there are times when we need to think about these things deeply first.
