Do you like House M.D. as much as you did in the first series?

Don't you think that House M.D. is getting worse and worse series after series? I mean, I really loved it during the first series, but episode after episode the character of House becomes too.. cumbersome, too overflowing. It's just al about House, his paranoias, every other character keeps doing nothing but speaking about how smart he is, how haughty he is, the fact that he's always right, etc... I think everything is becoming excessively based on House's character, even for a series that was completely modelled on his figure. And this means less focusing on medical issues, which I think are really important in the series.
Ultimately I don't like this series any more because of what it's become. Too boring for me: the character of House is interesting, but when it's too much, it's just too much.
What do you think?
P.S.: Sorry for my English, I'm Italian (despite my nickname) ;-) !!

I am really glad that you started this discussion.
This TV show isn't nearly as good as it used to be, in my opinion.
But, I am still interested in watching it and I am looking forward to his new team!

So let's hope the members of the new team will be charismatic enough to compete with the figure of House: if the script focuses properly on them, the series can still have a future (and a good one, I think).

I agree with you to a degree. My problem is that while House can be fun to watch, it can also be upsetting to see how much others enable him to act the way that he does. I hated the plot-line with Tritter (the police guy, I think that's his name) and now this story-line of picking out the new staff seems like some crazy American Idol thing. I liked his old staff and I think that in some ways they still had a lot to learn from him still and he still had a a lot to learn from them. This new season feels like the writers are not so sure what to do, so they are making things up as they go along. I hope I like the new characters and I hope the show finds it's footing again. I really like the mystery behind the people's illness, so hopefully that will keep me interested long enough for the show to get better again.
BTW - Your English is very good. No need to apologize. :)

I hated the Tritter- thing too. I think it was silly. This policeman came out of nowhere just in order to magnify House's character (as if there was any need for it) by means of psychological torture. It wasn't necessary at all, and it made the whole plot lose credibility.

I would have to disagree. But, I really started watching House on a regular basis around the end of season 2, so my feeling for season 1 isn't as strong as people who have watched it from the start. Also, my primary reason for watching the show is for Dr. House. And, right now, I still find him one of the most fascinating, complex characters on tv. I do think the other characters are important in their own right (that is, as secondary characters) and I feel we get glimpses and insights into them, and that they do more than just talk about ho smart he is. But, I have no problem with it being *almost* all about House, because I always felt that's what the series was about. By the way, what paranoias?
I found the season premiere to be one of the best episodes I've seen of a show. Just complete enjoyment from start to finish. The second episode was not quite as good, but not bad in the least. I enjoyed seeing House's old team back.
Another reason I'm not feeling any differently towards the show is that the medicine isn't as important to me as it is to other viewers. Of course, it is a part of the show, but to me, it's secondary to the exploration of the characters.

First of all, your English is just fine. And yes, I so agree with you. I tried to hang in there and keep watching it but there's absolutely no other story line weaved into it. They might as well have a different cast, except for House, each episode. His personality does get cumbersome (nice choice of words btw) and it's just too much to bear. I did love the one about the single mom who refused to terminate her pregnancy. It was one of the few times, maybe the only time, when House actually sort of confessed he was wrong. Anyhow, I'm with you on this one.

No I don't think it's getting worse. They're playing on the fact that he hates everyone because he's in pain and thinks that all people are morons. They're just going with it.

I think people forget that House is not as much a "hospital drama" as it is a character study or character driven show. If you are a big fan of ER, you may not really like "House." Its about his personal journey regardless. I think that the show certainly can have ups and downs, but the character is very interesting and worth learning more about.

Sometimes the characters seem to lose their original identity and the show just allows House to do his thing. I like the previous series because of the combine human drama and medical issues. This season it does seem to become boring and its a wait till the end of the show to find out whether House made the right diagnosis.
But even though its not what it used to be, its still interesting to note of the medical investigation being presented and somehow being a non medical person, the cases being presented seem to be out of the ordinary. But you still pick something out of each show.
I hope they can bring back the comedy that the show has in the previous season.

I think I would have to agree with you there. I think that the first episode of the season was rather boring. I don't see it working well with out Foreman, Chase, and Cameron. I guess we will just have to wait and see!

I think the issue you are raising is that the character and the show have not developed - they have stuck to the same formula. It will be interesting to see if they change it this season.

I agree that house is slightly getting boring. I don't really know how to describe it, but i guess, house isn't as he used to be. Lots of TV series' do this though; they lose their flavor. And i don't think i see one problem with your English londoner.
