My girls are a little behind (according to the Idaho Reading indicator, a test they take 3 times a year) and I'm looking to catch them up. Any suggestions as for things they can do to learn their letters and such? I'm printing some stuff off http://www.tlsbooks.com/ozmanuscriptkindergarten.pdf here and they'll start doing those daily before school, they're in PM Kindergarten. I take them in to the office with me so it has to be stuff they can do independently....

That's a good idea. I'm not sure hubby would let them use his lap top for that. He's very possessive of his lap top.

With my step kids the leap frog stuff was all pretty helpful and fairly independent from what I can recall, but really, honestly, especially with the older boy, what helped the most was reading with him, having him read to me, picking gradually harder books as we went along, playing games in the car (like how many words could he get off of each billboard) basically all of the interactive stuff. I think he especially wasn't getting enough attention from his teacher - he was a really shy kid - and so the more he got at home, the better he did because he had one on one help. Good luck in everything ! I know it won't take them long to catch up, you sound like you are really involved already, and that always helps the most!

OH the Leap pad.... My boys don't use it any more.... I'm going to have to find a good book for them to use. Why didn't I think of that. DUH mommy. They aren't too far behind, after all school just started.... I just want them to be the "smart kids" like my older kids are.... Well my boys more so than my older daughter....

Oh don't worry, if the older kids are smart, then I bet it's genetic and the younger ones turn out even more clever than them!
