Do You Like To Be Surprised?

Bouquet of Red Roses - A beautiful bouquet..

I mean, when it's your Birthday or Christmas, or just any old day really, the local florist knocks on your door with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. It only ever happened to me once, when my friend knocked with a bouquet, just to say she cared. I was overcome. I loved the surprise. Something so unexpected and beautiful made my heart sing. I cherished those flowers. Another instance... a friend you haven't seen for ages, suddenly appears at your door, gifts in hand. What does this say to you? This also happened to me only the once, in Brighton. A friend had been in the USA for some time, and whey they came back, they obtained work in Bristol, in the far south west. Then one day, there was a knock at my door and there they stood... gifts in hand. I can tell you that was such a magic moment... of course, I had missed them so much, and here they were, no warning, nothing... tears of joy fell, rolled down my cheeks and dripped on my shirt. Then the hug.... wow, what a hug. I was happy, even though I had been surprised... so happy I couldn't contain myself, and I couldn't stop chattering, nervously. You see, the gifts didn't matter... it was the surprise of seeing this person standing at my door. Do you like surprises? Do you have any to share with us? Did anybody ever drop by unexpectedly... someone you had wished there, or just by chance? Did you ever get flowers, chocolates, anything at all to show somebody's love for you? Please share with us.

I think I'd like surprises like that. But no one gives me any surprises..lol The last time I was surprised on my birthday was when my husband remembered and was the first to wish me lol (usually he forgets my birthday even after numerous reminders the day before).

I had to move to India during the Gulf invasion and since we were having vacations, I couldn't get anyone's addresses. I was in high school and I've been trying to find my friends since then. And guess what?! Just an hour back, I got the biggest surprise in my life (a pleasant one). One of my friends call me. She found my address in a scrap of paper and called up the telephone exchange who gave her my neighbour's number. Fortunately my mother is at home now(she stays in a different continent!) and my friend was able to get my number and call me! She is the US. I'm sure she would have landed at my doorstep if she was in India! Well, that sure was a good surprise and we've planned a class reunion next month!

Awwwwww... now I can't help but think that when you do receive a surprise.. gift or appearance of somebody long lost that you care about, it's going to be a very unexpected and emotional one. I'm sure it will happen someday. Until that day, Brightest Blessings, and heartfelt wishes that your surprise, when it comes, will be the best and most valuable experience ever. x

Wow, that's soooooo spooky! lol. There's me wishing you the best surprise ever and your school friend calls you up! Isn't that amazing? You see, you were bound to get a great surprise sooner or later. I'm just a little freaked out that it happened when it did! lol. I hope you have a great time catching up with your old school pals, and thank you for sharing with us, my friend. Brightest Blessings.

Lakota, sweetheart... when a person you love presents themself at your door, what other gift is needed? That's the most pleasant surprise ever and I can imagine the hugs and tears that transpired from that. I'll bet you had the biggest smile on your face ever, stemming from that time. The feeling that he actually wanted to come and see you after twenty-seven years must have been one of the most emotional ever. Wow! Thank you for sharing with us, my friend. Brightest Blessings and may your life be full of lovely surprises like that one, even if they could never equal the return of your son. xxxx

OMG Lakota... he probably thought you were some wild woman running around the house whooping! ha ha ha. I can just see it now, and him standing on the doorstep with a really puzzled look on his face. I think you must have been in a state of shock, or elation, my friend, one or the other. But then, I guess I would have been too given the same situation. Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xxx

I like surprises.Especially the ones my daughter gives me always. She tried to look at me innocently which is the first sign that she is up to something. Then she murmurs something into her mother's ears and shouts at me "Daddy don't' you know it is bad eavesdropping".I smile and turn away. After sometime she comes running to me asking whether I have seen her scissors which I know for cutting the gift wrapper.I oblige obediently playing dumb. After sometime she comes before me with a cute little B day present for me and presents with a "Ta Ta Big surprise". I get amazed and hug her thanking for the surprise gift. Then I thank God for the sweet surprises in life.

I love surprises but I honestly can't remember the last time it happened. Birthdays especially are a non-event these days except for what I do for myself. When is your special day Darkwing? Mine was yesterday...the 4th.

I guess it's quite nice that he asks or tells you first what he's planning. When you love somebody like that, you appreciate the "little things" they do and say. He is at least considering your feelings about his plans, after all. Brightest Blessings for a great Sunday!

Hi Darkwing, I love surprises! That has always been one of the things that I love so much about holidays or a birthday. I also love surprising people! Once in a while I will either get something for my hubby out of the blue, or a friend and the look on their face is priceless. Once in a while my hubby will surprise me with flowers or something, but it doesn't happen all that often. Have a good day hun! Love & Hugzz, Your Friend, PurpleTeddyBear

But to my mind, it doesn't have to happen often with the flowers. It's more of a surprise if it doesn't and makes them so much more special, don't you think? I mainly just get flowers from friends, on my birthday, but I was suprised by the florist calling just the once, and I loved receiving them on my doorstep. Brightest Blessings, my friend.

Aww sweety you deserve any nice surprises that you get sweety! I have been very lucky sometimes most recently when I came out of hospital and on my birthday - people were so loving and caring and supportive! Think one of the best surprises I have had in years is when I was in hospital after my surgery and a mutual friend of ours called me - that was a total surprise and meant the world to me! xxxx

Yes and no I like to be surperise. I like being surperise because I like the idea of not knowing what im going to get and it makes christmas day and my birthday a lot more fun. But on the other hand That means I probally wont get the stuff I want since it would be to much of a giveaway if I told them and if there trying to surperise me why would they buy what I ask.

Mine always ask me to make a list of several things I want and then choose from it and pass it around. That way, you get what you want but don't know what, if you see my meaning, or from whom. It works! Equally, if somebody buys me a surprise gift of flowers, chocolates, or jewellery, then it's always a nice surprise. It makes me happy to receive a gift I'm not expecting. :) Brightest Blessings.
