I don't think Athiests see themselves as more educated than theists, exactly. They simply believe that Atheism is more logical than theism. And of course they think that, or they wouldn't be athiests. Theists often think they are more educated than atheists too. They think this because everyone thinks that their religion is the right one, therefore others' religions are wrong. And, if others' religions are wrong, than they are more educated.
Yeah, that proably made no sense to you. It made sense in my head but I couldnt find the right words. Ah, well.

its not a matter of right/wrong, its a matter of logic and reason.

It may be that someone with a college education is slightly more likely than someone with a high school education or less to be an atheist, I'm not absolutely sure about that statistic but I think I read it somewhere. If it is correct I'm not necessarily sure we can read anything into it. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "see themselves" as more educated. If you meant see themselves as more intelligent I guess there are probably some atheists who think their refusal to believe in what they see as things that defy science and logic makes them "more intelligent". My brother, who was raised in the church as I was, considers himself to be an agnostic and he is extremely intelligent and very well educated with two masters degrees. He doesn't go around and talk about his faith or lack thereof, it's only if it's brought up by someone else that he speaks of it but he read the entire bible while in college and he read it as you would any school assignment. I guess religion and faith is just something one has to make up their own mind about on their own terms. In my own opinion statistics and poll are rarely completely accurate so no matter what anyone says I would guess there are atheists and theists among both the highly educated and those with very little education and sometimes their education or lack of it plays a part in their feelings and sometimes it doesn't. Also, personally I don't think someone should look down on someone because of their religious beliefs regardless of what they are.
