I just saw in the news on the TV that there are some people who used to eat rats indwelling in the farm or rice field. One of the residents there who was also eating rats insists that it is very nutritious and delicious. I don't think if that is true. They say that its meat is like a chicken. They usually combined the meat with some vegetables to make it more delicious. Do you think it is okay for them to eat rats? Is there any disadvantages on it?

Hi friend! I have seen it in the news here in our country! Some people who are living in the farm and rice fields do eat some rats! They said that it is clean because it came from the rice fields! I don't know if that is true! I am just hoping that they will cook it very well so that the bacteria or germs will be totally killed. With regards to its nutrients, I am not sure if we can obtain some nutrients, perhaps protein because it is meat!
Have a nice day and God bless you always!

Hi ciades.. Yes, they are saying that rats from the ricefields can be eatened. I do not know if it is really delicious, but the cleanliness assurance of it is still being questioned by most people.

Basically, the meat of any animal can be eaten, so I'm all fine about people eating rats. I think it's all just part of different traditions and we have to learn to respect that, like the indigenous people from my home country eat insects and earthworms. I would certainly not touch that because it's digusting to me but for the indigenous people, it's a delicacy. From the most bizzare things I've seen, I've even seen on video a person eating (or rather swallowing) a beating heart of a python. The python was "slaughtered" on the spot and the still-beating heart of the python was swallowed by the guy. Really a daredevil!

I think scientifically it is nothing wrong to eat rats but psychologically most of us are scared of taking such disgusting creatures. As the people there are accustomed to take rats as food, it is just similar as we take chickens. I believe too, the meat of the rats they take is truly nutritious as these rats are taking natural foods from the farms and the rice fields. The chickens which we are taking now are mostly fed with foods which might contain lots of added chemicals. So the rat meat might be better than the chicken.
