we were out on some outdoor activity and we bought hamburgers from a fastfood chain for dinner. i have only taken a few bites and i wrapped the burger again and put it on top of a table and proceeded to participate in our activity.
when i got back to the table, i was hungry again and without examining my burger first, i unwrapped instantly and took a bite. then i felt small ants crawling in my hands and i realized there were ants in my burger! i couldnt stop spitting thinking that i might have eaten some few ants. ^__^;;

I had this experience, I was so thirsty that I drink a cold water on the cup not knowing that there were black ants. As I finished oof the water, i felt there was small things crawling on my mouth. I spitted it and to my surprised, few black ants fell on the floor! Around ten or less of them. It was really an eery experience.

geez, it is like deja vu! I too had a very similar experience, except mine was with a can of pop! It really didn't help that I was majorly hung over from the night before either. I do not drink pops that have been left on the counter for any length of time anymore. Just the thought turns my stomach.

I've never not checked my food before eating it, especially in that sort of situation. I'm sure that everyone has eaten a few bugs or such in their lifetime. As long as it's not poisonous it's ok I'm sure. However, you really can't be mad or upset at anyone besides yourself.

No worries! Ants will not send you screaming to the hospital or cause any dire health issues. You will be fine. I hate ants and they are very pesky especially when you leave a bit of food out for a time. I have become very good about taking food and putting it away in the fridge for the same reason. they will just come out of nowhere! Don't worry, eating a couple won't hurt you.

LMAO...Bear Im so sorry to laugh, but that is just funny to me. I cant say that I have ever done that, Im not aware that I have eaten some ants.
I think you will be fine, a little grossed out but fine. Ive watched Andrew Zimmerman on the Food Network eat worse things than ants!
I wasnt laughing at your misery Bear, I hope you can laugh about it too, or did!

now that people are laughing about it, then I guess I can laugh at it too. ^__^;; but I was really grossed out then. I know there are even more odd things than eat that some people eat like bugs and and lizards. but hey, I'm not one of those people and I certainly don't enjoy eating insects. ^__^;;

I had a similar experience once, when an ant got into a fruit that I bit after. I didn't swallow the ant...it bit be on the tongue! I felt the sting and scratched my tongue against my teeth and when I spat I saw the body. The head was still stinging my tongue. I got it out by scratching my tongue against the teeth some more.

good thing that was a little spot. and it hardened for a short period of time! there are ants which bite would swell and would take a few days before it heals. ^.^

Hey my friend, sorry that happened to you.
Next time make sure the food is in an airtight
container or bag.
I would be spitting just like you but don't worry
they are harmless unless they are the Red Ant species
which leave a nasty bite. I don't think you have them
in the Philippines. You would have known instantly.
People around the world do eat ants because they are
high in protein but I'll stick to more conventional
foods.

Oh you do have red ants. Ouch. Yeah I think I'll
stick to meat also. It's strange how some places
really enjoy their bugs. Mmmmmmm.

ouch to the maximum level. and what's annoying is the bite takes a long time heal. it would swell for a few days before it would heal and it would be so itchy!

I would have felt rather sick, and thrown the hamburger away. Next time, you should put the hamburger in a covered container and you will not have that problem.

If you had gotten bit inside your mouth you would know it. Otherwise, I'd just consider them a good source of protein, ants are considered a food delicacy in some parts of the world, especially chocolate-covered. Isn't that one of the reasons so many people love to dine out in New York? *smile* I have a really scary story to tell about ants but you sound worried enough already. Later...

The ants I've heard of them serving in a restaurant were not alive! I never ate any myself, but this is pretty interesting:
http://www.sala-online.co.uk/sols/nav.do?productid=326
OK, one summer I was out on some property I own in the desert before there were any buildings there and I got to talking with a friend and forgot to keep an eye out for the critters. Chatting away, it suddenly felt like I had my ankle bracelet on, but I was sure I wasn't wearing it, as I wouldn't want it to get lost out in the wild. So I looked down to check and there was this ring of ants crawling around and around my ankle right where the bracelet would have been. For some reason I went into shock and I started screaming, but I didn't even know I was screaming. I was just standing there yelling and the ants going round and round until my friend told me to stop screaming and brush them off. That is when I realized they were all biting me. It was not a big deal because they were just little ants so I brushed them off and kind of forgot all about it. But the next time I went to that place, I tripped on a rock and broke the same ankle that the ants had bitten, right in the place they were crawling up and around. So now I get a little weirded out when I see ants anywhere.

Hello!
Poor ants...!! oopppsss! I meant Poor bear...*hehe* Those ants must had been hungry and you didn't want to share...LOL!!
It happened to me a lot of times. I just spit it out or wash my mouth with water and spit. You'll be fine like me...*hehe* still alive and kicking, well as long as the ants are not poisonous or something, lots of people ate worst than ants and they're still alive. Take care and next time do share...*hehe*
ciao! c",)

you eat ants when you were a kid?? ^__^;;
talk about coincidence, a certain tribe was featured on tv last last saturday and one of their finger foods when they are drinking are big red ants! and yes, the eggs too! they fry the ants in little amount of oil and after that, its ready to eat! the reporter brought the dish to the metro and had a lot of people try it. most of them didnt want to though. LOL those that were brave enough to eat some said it tasted sour but a little sweet. ^__^;;
yeah, at least they are not flies! flies are more disgusting and dirty. ew. ^.^

you got a point there. for those poor people who has nothing to eat, they would eat even thrown food in the trash can and food with ants would seem clean to them.

When I was a little girl my older sister and I stayed with our grandparents for a week every summer. My grandma made the best cornbread and we had went roller skating and came home to have a snack. My sister grabbed up the last of the cornbread...put butter and syrup on it and began to eat it when she noticed the syrup moving...it was full of grease ants....we still talk about it....and cornbread makes her kinda sick when she see it!

I have some same situations like you have experienced, but it is even worse than yours, I think. It is fly that was found in the food. Usually if it is in a restaurant, we would give the dish back to the waiter and demand them to cook another one or we will just give up eating in that restaurant.

I remember a cousin gave the food back to the counter when she found a hair strand in her rice. that's only a strand and yet, she was too disgusted to eat it. ^__^;;

Well, though, it is a disgusting thought. I don't think it will hurt you. SOme people in some places, actually eat ants. Not to mention, I'm sure most people have eaten at least one of the sneaky little critters at some point. I have seen them many times in sugar, or cereal boxes. And I'm pretty sure if I've seen one in my bowl, there's a pretty good chance, that I've eaten at least one. Look at it this way, I've heard they are a good source of protein. lol

hi there. I actually had a similar experience with the ants. But this time, they raided my cup of coffee. I'm fond of having a cup of coffee while Mylotting. So absorbed was I into a discussion I was reading, that I just lifted the mug and took a sip. Then, the next instant I knew something was wrong with my coffee. And something felt wrong with my mouth!When I looked at my mug, ants were already having a great time swimming in my coffee! I think I already swallowed some of them.
There was nothing I could do but to run to the bathroom and rinse my mouth!
