I wanted to try bartending at some point, what're the pros and cons of this?

I am a bartender and I don't mind it. You have to have a lot of patience though. You hav to be fun and social too. The more people like you the more money you will make. I think that the pro is that you can have fun and talk to people while making good money. The con is that you put up with drunk people always hitting on you. All you can do is try it and see if you like it

I've been told i'm a very good listener, and I do pull off the bartender look as well.. not to mention I can be very outgoing most of the time, and i'm very understanding of people's feelings, and not only that I can maintain a calm behavior no matter what the situation which I know is a big must to have when it comes to bartending :)
Thanks for the advice, and uh. Nah, people can hit on me if they want. That would only boost my confidence, no matter what the person looks like! Aha, :P

I used to work at a bar, but in the end I got so fed up with all the drunk people that I left and never looked back. You have to have a good understanding of people, be able to listen to nonsense while you nod your head and say how much you agree with them. You have to have stamina to refuse drunken people or trouble makers, and be able to go between people quarreling. You have to be able to seem interested to topics that generally don't concern you, read newspapers to catch up with what goes on in the world. Of course, a knowledge of drinks would also do you good. Another thing, you should have humor.
The pros are that you get to meet lots of people, you build up good people skills, you can make a good deal of money off tips.
Try it for a little bit if you're unsure.
