Hi,
As a kid I have faced many situations of that kind.
There were instances where people wanted to give me something but did not give me that used to pinch me a lot.
Now as we have crossed that level, we should not do that to the present kids and hurt them, this will leave in their minds throughout their life.
So let us be prudent enough in our behaviour with the current kids.

The thing or comment that I would only get offended at, are those of which are not true and that they already are degrading. It's not really a big deal for me if the person who says such words are my or is a common friend, that I also know it is not meant to be hurtful.
I receive some of those, especially when I was still a teenager. That people would talk behind my back, say things that I know is not true and are just pure gossips. I didn't confronted nor waste my time on them, since I knew that they are not worth the time to waste at..

Two things. First off in the 7th grade I was good friends with this girl and kids used to say we were gay and when I left for another school they asked her what she would do without her "partner". I was made fun of for 2 yrs in public school which is why I began in the 8th grade private school till I graduated high school.
Most recent was in a high school group supposed to be from people I graduated high school from supposed to be christians, most arent or dont act it. I never put them down but because I choose to not drink, or smoke or go out dancing they kept making fun of me saying I wasnt living. So I stuck up for myself saying that I am living just cause I am not doing those doesnt mean I am not. Something to that affect.
Well like a month or so later this girl who used to be my friend on that myspace group well she says I am being a bit self-righteous. Which is rather mean seeing I never put anyone down or said I was better then them. I only stuck up for myself. So truly being called "self-righteous" is the meanest thing anyone has ever call me. PERIOD!

A boss once said to me..."Sometimes I sincerely think that you are asleep with your eyes open". I guess I wasn't catching on to something he was explaining to me quick enough. This was a boss of mine. Eventually, I gained his respect and we ended up having a good working relationship, but that was pretty bad. I think the reason that I tolerated it, was because I was very young at the time and he was pretty old, but I stewed on that for a while.
Other offensive things that have been said to me were in the workplace in the form of inuendo.
Then, there's the stuff I get from some of my family members. I try not to let it get to me.

Hi
Lunboobsy11
I gas everybody in their childhood have some thing like that. I gas who is confident enough to face this and replyed at once of this kind bad gesture, they did not have this kind of probelm. But anytime it could be happened eventhough some one is so trong inside.

I come across a lot of people of different levels and it is only the lower middle class and low class people who abuse for every thing. I am in business and hence I hear lot of offensive stuff, but I just do not care as long as they pay for the services rendered. There is nothing extra ordinary to point out the abusive or offensive words that I retain in my mind.

Many years ago, my friends talked me into being a substitute on their bowling league for the evening. I'm a horrible bowler, but they assured me that it was a fun league and there wouldn't be anyone that minded if I was a terrible bowler.
The bowling alley was filled with many people and as always, my score was "crappy".
Afterwards, we went into the lounge to visit and have a drink. A complete stranger that was just watching our team came up to me and said, "There's no excuse for the way you bowl!" I was so embarrassed, I just wanted to crawl through the floor. Needless to say, I never bowled with them again.
There have probably been other times, but that's the one that I will never forget.

I came from an abusive upbringing. My father always told me I was "useless" and that I "would not amount to much" in my life.
Well well well? Look at me now old man. I am your caregiver. I
hated being told these things as a child. But life went on & I'm
a good person and have no grudges etc against dad as he raised
me the way he was raised. I broke the chain raising my kids as
far as verbal abuse.

Calling me by some another name or mispronuncing my name can be offending to me. My name or surname are sometime is not pronunced properly, I feel very bad, if I am addressed wrongly.

In my early school days, classmates would call me 'key' because of a small keylike growth just below my left ear lobe. I felt very degraded because of this and even entered into heavy quarrel with my fellow students. Since it is a birthmark ,I am still carrying the keylike growth and no more feel low because of it.
