Teaching profession - Socities' Attitude

I have observed that in the present day nobody takes teaching as a career. A Common man doesn't understands the role of a teacher. He never advices his child to be a teacher (as to be a doctor or an engineer).Even the society looks down upon a person as 'why are you working as teacher? can't you make up any other profession? Teaching as a profession is the last resort for an educated unemployed person. "Should monetory benefit alone be considered while choosing a career?"
