We always receive donation letters from the mail, at first, i didn't know that it's usual here to receive donation letters coming from everywhere sent thru mail. Almost everyday, we receive one or two. we don't have this in the country i came from, i thought we should really need give donations to this charities, but once i started giving donations to them the more they send us donation letters for help, my mom-in-law told me that when you already give once you don't need to give donation again to the same institution since they keep on sending you donation letter everymonth over and over again. well, i've learned too that it's not really compulsory or they don't force you to give donation. Well, it's jst too much also if we give donations to every donation letters that we receive, imagine receiving almost everyday sometimes it's 2 in a day. we can't afford to give all the time. Have you experienced the same thing? Do you also receive donation letters asking for donation?

thank you !it is a good question.
For me,i have never received a donation letter beofre.Maybe they are so diffirent between you and my country,or Email station.
But,if a beggar ask for money to me when i am walking in street, not every beggar i will give .Because i can not afford to give all the time too.My policy is that if she or he is young and able to work ,i do not give donation to them , if he or she is old and they can not be able to work ,so they have to beg for their living ,so i will give them donation.

ONCE I had a lot of money so I donated a bit to like 2 of them like each one it was like maybe $15 each. They thanked me, and then they sometimes ask for more. I feel bad I cant do it more often. Seeing they seem to be a good cause. Most send me free address labels which I love to use. But I am hard up on money and cant donate anymore. But yes at least twice I have gone and donated because it seemed to be a good cause.
Sometimes they like at the PetCo they ask for extra money for a donation or round your purchase to the next dollar and the change goes to the donation, I do that almost always cause it matters and its not much. I try to do what I can.

that's what happened to me also. i donate at first but i can't donate all the time, they also send me free address label, cards and some small gifts. i think that's enough to send them once cause there are jst a lot of charity instution and you can't give to all of them all the time cause it will cost you a lot of money to do that. have a nice day monkeywriter!

I think we shuold verify the profile of any orginization or the person who is asking for donation before paying them any ammount of charity so it should be dilivered to the needy people, not liers or non deserving people ..
As my religion Islam guide us to give charity silently so the person who is taking it would not feel guilty or shame , and find the needy person so we should be very careful while giving charity ,because it is a worthy money and it should be helpful for those who need it ,unlike cheaters ......

I liked what you said about your religion!

I receive donation letters all the time, too. I used to give as much as I could to some but stopped when they started telling you what to send. The funny thing about these charities is they always have a heartfelt letter but never say how much is really going to the needest of the people. Now I don't even read them and I contribute in different ways!

Every day we get more letters asking for a donation. We give to two or three causes a year. My favorite phone call to get is the one from the retired police. Can we help them? They make more in a month on retirment than we do. We get that phone call at least once a month. I have asked them to take us off of their call list. They have.

Yes, sometimes they sell your name to other charity organizations and this is why you receive so many charity letters by mail. The same happens to me ,but I just choose a few charities such as helping kids in Africa, Aids, the environment. Once they see that you like to help you end up with all types of letters asking for more money.

Yes I do get donation letters in the mail all the time but I can't give to every single one of them but I do give when I can and how ever much I can. I mostly like to give to animal charities to help with the welfare of animals in hopes to have more spayed and neutered to help with the over population and or to help shelter the ones that are in need. But like I said, I give when I can however I feel terrible when I can't.

Hi Claire,
Like you I receive lots of donation requests by mail. I do not respond to those at all. I donate regularly to March of Dimes, United Way, the Goodwill. These organizations are represented locally, and are beneficial to our community, so I feel justified.
My father donates to about 10 of these letters a month. Living on a fixed income, he still chooses to donate on a regular basis. That is his choice..
Happy posting..

Nope, I don't give donations on the e-mail. It is my first time to join online programs and haven't earned anything yet. So I ahve nothing to give as of now. But as soon as I succeed, I will share my blessing by giving donations. But I will look for the ebst site for that. I will not just donate my hard earned money just like that. I will look for a site that is not a scam.

I never do. I actually get really tired of recieving these mailings. I usually donate to the people who call over the phone (police, MADD, ect) but have stopped because they are selling my personal information to other companies. It's maddening

I don't give donations to those I get in the mail because I'm always worried that it will not go to the cause. And then when it does they may only give them a percent of the money you send. Plus I prefer to give it to local charities. I wouldn't feel obigated to keep sending money to things I've already given too either. It's okay if you don't have the money to give because they will get it else where. Expecially when you look at all the places they mail their requests too.

In our country, we don't have that except on Christmas but there's a person who knocks on your door and gives you a donation letter. There are also times that they come in group and they sing a Christmas carol or just the instrument. While singing, they will hand you an envelope with a letter asking for a donation. We just give them an amount since it just happens once a year.

I only give donations to charities that I already know a lot about. I receive letters in the mail from charities I have never heard of, and of course I'm not sending them money, because I have no reason to trust them. I don't know how they actually use the money, if they are legit, what they really stand for, etc.
In fact, I do a lot of research before I donate to any charity. My favorite charity to donate to is a local one that I have actually volunteered at myself before. I know how they use the money because I have been there. I know what they do, because I have been part of that work. And that's important to me.
The only time I donate to charities I haven't actively worked with is usually if I've done a LOT of research on them. Some of these larger charities have events like walks/runs that people can take part in, and I will often give donations to support my friends or their teams, since my health usually keeps me from taking part myself. In those cases, though, they are well-known charities that I have faith in.

I give to a select few organizations. The ones that I do not wish to give to, I send a certified letter asking to be removed from their mailing lists. This will usually stop their mailings in 2-3 weeks. I also write return to sender on the ones I do not want and send them back. After a while, you only get letters from the organizations that you really want to help. The ones I give to only send a letter out every 3 months or so. Quarterly donations. I pick a set amount to give each year per organization and then when I get their letters, I just send them a portion of that amount each time.
