I've always been a fan of JRR Tolkien's work, particularly LOTR. Aside from the story, I like the backgroun history on the making of the book.
When the movie came out, I was at the height of being nuts about it. I've watched the movie several times, read the books even more, bought the soundtracks, DVDs (theatrical and Extended versions), and I guess visited every site that bannered "Lord of the Rings." There was even an attempt to learn Quenya. LOL!Now the hype has passed, Peter Jackson got his Oscars, and the movie went down in history as one of the best films ever made ... but I still can't get enough of it.
Fans out there, any thoughts on our little addiction?:-)

I've been so addicted to LOTR, that after the books and the movies, i'm now down to the computer games. Got to love how good the LOTR games are.

That is very funny. LOTR having a musical. What will that supposed to look like? I wonder how the ogres will be singing? The movie was just fantastic. The detail was just wow. It was breaking ground to a new type of of movie genre. If you really think about it, there are a lot of continuations of the story the producer can come up with for more series or preqeuls if he wished to. 8-)

Yeah, there are a lot of side stories that can be exploited ... hehehe.
It's one of the reasons why I like LOTR. There are stories within the story you can investigate and read about separately.
I guess it's up to other fan directors there to take those stories up.
I'm sure it's not just me who is eagerly waiting for those stories be given life. Heck, even an anime version of anything LOTR would be interesting.
PS: Singing ogres in a musical LOL! I'd like to see that! I've recently been reading this crazy blog about Secret Diaries of each Fellowship member. One should read it just for the laughs, it's hilarious. :-)

I loved the movies. And adored the books. I read the Lord of the Rings AFTER I saw the Fellowship of the Ring. I was obsessed. I think I read the book (all three parts) in 2 weeks or so. The book is amazing. Tolkien had to be brilliant. One of those people who never stops thinking. Thank goodness you wrote these stories. The classic good against evil story...with amazing characters and underlying stories with "lessons" about friendship, love and doing the "right" thing. I can't express how amazing they are! Words fail me.
The movies...what can I say? They are "stellar!" I cannot even imagine trying to tackle The Lord of the Rings - trying to put this amazing book (sincere characters, amazing plot and narrative...and the places it takes you...and the things you see...AND the languages - WOW!) onto a movie screen. That takes talent. WAY more than I could ever imagine having!
I love soundtracks. And the soundtracks to all three movies are awesome! I love them all. I can play them and often know exactly where it is in the movie (or at least have a pretty good idea from the emotions the music provokes in me).
I take out the extended versions of the three movies every once in a while. I remember one time I was home sick for a few days...and watched all three, extended versions, in a row...in one day...it was awesome! :-)
I can easily become addicted to movies and books (well...really to good stories). The Lord of the Rings (books or movies) is an AMAZING story. So...yes...I am addicted!
