Growing up i saw my sister more as an enemy even a nusiance and that makes me sad because i have grown to be quite fond of her she is defintely my best friend and i wish i realized that sooner..but i didnt so i am thankful that i have "grown up" enough to know now that she is a very big and important part of my life. we became friends in general when i was a senior in highschool 8 yrs ago and since then have become the bestest of friends .
We make it a point to have "sister day" once a month where we leave our husbands, children and daily responsibiltes at home and just the two of us go out and enjoy one anothers company for the night whether it be shopping, dinner, bingo the movies , amusement parks etc. and i am so glad that we came up with this idea i look forward to it each and every month.
how about you do you make time to spend quality time with your sister, showing exactly how special she is too you?? if not maybe you should consider it, and if you do what type of special things do you do to show one another just how important you are to eachother???

I have two sisters. One is a couple of years younger than me and is my very best friend. I talk to her a million times a day and we share everything. It wasn't always that way at all. She worked at a bank and I worked in pro wrestling. I saw her as conservative and snooty and she saw me as wild.
At that time, I was very, very close to my older sister. But times change and now I am close to both but really, my younger sister is my confidante and my dear, dear friend. We went out this weekend together and it was so nice to just hang out together.
I am close to my older sister but not as close as in the past. Still, we talk and see one another and care deeply. I am blessed to have them. I have a brother but he is basically MIA even though he lives nearby and we aren't mad at each other. He just doesn't want anything to do with his sister. That stinks.

My sister is a pain sometimes. She borrows things without permission even if I scream at her to never do that.
She can be fun sometimes. I'm still not in the point of actually spending time with her since I see her everyday. She can be annoying, but sometimes she's the only person I can talk to. When I'm irritated with something, I usually tell her since she's the one around, but I think it's more for the reason that I can say anything without being judged. For the most part I think she does try to be a good sister. I'm just too stubborn.
She's older than me, so I guess she is more considerate.:)

Well what sister isnt a pain, i know ive had my fair share of being stubborn and a pain to my siblings even to this day and they too have had their moments of making me want to rip my eyes out but they are our family and we cant help but love them even if sometimes we want to just stick them in a box and ship them out of the country LOL thanks for your input

I am the oldest child and I have a younger sister. When we were growing up I did see my sister as a nuisance, mostly because she would use my clothes, shoes, makeup, jewelry... you name it, nothing was sacred! But no matter how much she bothered me, I loved her so much and was very protective of her.
I am very close to her now that we are older and I still am very protective of her. She really is my very best friend and I know that whatever I need she is there for me and vice versa. I see her most everyday, but we do have sister time together, most times its at my house just relaxing and chatting, crafting together or playing with our kids.
We recently sat and talked about when we were kids. I told her what a pain in the butt she was and she told me she was mad at me for being older! We laughed and laughed! I wish we had been able to talk liek this when we were kids. We probably would have been the best of friends!

My sister and I weren't the best of friends growing up either. We never talked and never did things together. Now that we are older we have slowly gotten to know each other better. We try to stay in touch by emails and phone calls since we are living in diffrent states.

That is so sweet. I know for my entire life i have always looked up to my best friend.. whom as well is my sister... Growing up she too looked at me as an enemy.. she was so very mean and cruel.. But throught my highschool years as well we bonded deeply. And we became close friends. Our relationship as well grew into best friends status. Once a month sister day is an awesome thing to do.. I know that when my sister and i get together i cant help but count down the days.. soemtimes i have a feeling she thinks it about the particular thing we are doing but i would be happy just sitting on a park bench chatting with her all day.. I dont see my sister as often as i would like and i currently dont have a telephone at the moment, its in the making though, the problem is she and i live an hour apart and long distance is a must because one of the main reasons i am getting a phone is so that we can have our daily chats.. I too feel as if my sister doesnt truely understand sometimes how she means to me. She is my best friend and i hope that when i buy a house we can live minutes away instead of hours! I love my sister!

I love my sister a lot in fact I can afford to lose my friends but not my sister. I remember during our younger days my mother will buy similar clothes so some people thought that we were twins. My sister is younger but bigger than me so many people always mistaken her as older. We have similar likes but our personality is quite different. We used to quarrel almost everyday when we were little girls but not anymore. We have the same room, sleep in one bed, went to same school together from elementary to college so most of the time we were together. I thought we were inseparable but now she works in another city and she's planning to work abroad. She's quite ambitious and I'm not. I miss those days so whenever we see each other we will watch a movie, eat in a restaurant or window shop most of the time in the mall. Even now whenever we walk together we still hold hands and some people find it corny. It just happen naturally;-) One thing I like about our relationship is that we never envy each other and there is no jealousy between us. I love to see movies about sisterhood and among my favorites are Raising Helen, Practical Magic and The Hiding Place. The latter is very touchy and it's the true story of the ten Boom family. I always thank the Lord for having a sister like her.
