The 90s was a great decade for the OPM industry... but it was the best years for Eraserheads... I spent adolescence having to sort of memorize every Eraserhead song... now my question is, E-heads music reflected how we spent growing up -- particularly college days... Everyone wanted to experience what the band experienced... now, going back to my topic... would you know the meaning or stories behind an E-heads song?
I pick Spolarium... i remember that the song was about how a Gin tonic could make your world go round... ;) what do you have in mind?

I pick "minsan", as I believe that was also about their college days. Somebody told me that the "kalayaan" they were pertaining too was not the avenue where their University is located at. It is about their Dorm or Room in U.P., where they all met up and their friendship started. There's also one song that was titled "Dr. Sixto Antonio Avenue" that I knew I also am familiar of, it is along Pasig, where Eliandro "Ely" Buendia grew up. I got familiar to it, because I also stayed my younger years in Pasig City -in my grandparent's house!;)
It's always nice to learn something new from my favorites, as I feel I've become more closer to them!;)

I think they are sitll friends, although they are not together as band. I believe that Ely deicded to quit the band because of music piracy, then their music got more into using gadgets and inventing sounds in the songs. They didn't thought of what their fans were thinking about, that they missed the first eraserheads, in which people have missed.

I think, Ely still has a great number of followers. Last weekend in a mall where Ely's band performed, it could really be observed that Ely is still the man. :)

That's interesting. I know someone from college who's really head over heels in love with Eraserheads and I think you know her too. As you mentioned, their songs describes the typical college life (of an "iska" or "isko") in a university. The one song I remember is "Kalayaan" which talks about their dormitory life in the university. Kalayaan is actually the dormitory located inside the campus where most college freshmen live.

hahaha! we were indeed 90s kids, i guess most of the kids then who were fans of e-heads aspired to see what Kalayaan has to offer... and being in a state university is like being one of the e-heads!

was it in natin99 where the song para sa masa was included? yes, their music has matured as the years passed by. Ely Buendia is one composer who captured every adolescent's and adult's realities. The song para sa masa i guess was a song for their fans who wanted more, but ely felt that they were becoming too commercialize... and he felt then that the essence of music was somehow eradicated in all of their transactions with the industry... ;)
