I dont think it is necessary to get married.
What I think is necessary if you choose to get married is be sure, and I mean 100% sure it is what you want to do. Especially if you should ever decide to have children.

I don't think it is necessary to get married, too.
People have different opinions. Some people may want to enjoy life themselves. They can enjoy freedom.

"decide to have children"
Why do you need to be married to have kids? A license to wed is not a license to breed. Plenty of people have kids without getting married and everyone is fine. Marriage is a legal binding piece of paper that only states you are now legally bound to one another and nothing more. It's not a promise of comittment or a promise of forever. It's just a legal document declaring that you two are stuck together until the ink on the divorce papers dry.

Well i dont think so....i am still a bit confused over the whole concept of marriage...i mean why is it so important to make my relationship legal...i mean its about love, trust and understanding and i vow to be there for my partner but whats with getting married especially these really expensive weddings....oh god such a waste of money....and also there are so many cases where people cheat on their spouses...where does the sanctity of marriage hold good in these cases...

I don't think it is necessary in today's society to get married. Couples who live together are no longer looked upon as being "scandalous". And children before marriage hardly even cause a ripple, where 30 years ago it would have been absolutely disastrous.
There are many couples who have been together for years that haven't tied the knot yet (like Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell). I think marriage is a decision that should be left to each couple. In today's society, being married isn't about gaining status or making a smart business deal, it is about love and how you feel about the person that you are with.

i guess not, it depends on the individual whether he/she wants to get married or not. i do think marriage is a wonderful thing that binds two people in love together. i don't know if it's true but somehow i think that everyone wants to get married and live happily ever after with their spouse and family. but it's probably the society that we live in. it's typical, you graduate from college/university, you get a good job, you get married, have children, retire, etc...when you reach a certain age and if you're not married, people will start bombarding you with questions on when are you getting married and that sucks! .

No, it's not.
There are plenty of reasons to get married, but there are plenty of reasons *not* to get married. It's all about who you are, what you want in life and if you find someone worth marrying.
Plenty of people are happy being single their whole lives and plenty of people marry the first guy they kiss and are happy the rest of their life.
Do what is right for you. If you want to marry, marry. If you want to remain single, then by all means, remain single! It's your life. Live it how you want. It's why we all have free will. It's so we can do what we want with our life and pick whatever path we want to travel down.
