Hi raijin. Somehow the issue on this racial slur delivered by Teri Hatcher on the show "Desperate Housewives" has been addressed already by the network itself by making an apology and the promise to editing that portion for future play and release on DVD would have enlightened the situation. I hope this incident will serve as a wake-up call to our government to implement measures and policies to further build a strong foundation for all our medical schools to produce credible and of high-caliber medical practitioners. This way the impression and the doubts of the international community about our healthcare institutions would be totally erased. It's high time for our fellow Filipinos, be doctors, engineers, nurses, and ordinary OFWs worldwide to prove themselves that they are the best workers in their own chosen fields.

Yes, the government should be the one to do their part and not just on those who are involved in these kind of profession. There are lots of profession that we excell at, but with less support coming from them. Besides, it is "us" filipinos and not just those who are in that nature of work, who were mentioned on that particular show..

I'm very pleased to see those of you who are Filipinos have chosen to accept the apology from ABC and Desperate Housewives. I honestly don't think any offense was intended at all, and if you're a regular viewer of this show you'd know the nobody's really left alone. There are main characters who are Latino and they're poked fun at pretty often. There's even a storyline where Gabby's new husband is actually using her to get the Latino vote in his upcoming campaign. I really believe few viewers who are not Filipino even took notice to this particular line or gave it much thought, it just understandably really stuck out for you. Anyway, they did the right thing and having an on-air statement would just bring more attention to the whole thing, which I don't think is what you want.

I started this to be transparent and provide good news to others, especially my fellow countrymen. But it seems that they are only a few, maybe others don't really understand the real situation and just jump into them for the sake of creating an issue to add up more fuel to the fire.
For me, it's negative and I can't see anything justifiable to commit another negative act as it'll not resolve the issue..
Thank you also for your time in posting here, I'm pleased that there are still many understanding and good people like you here!;)

I wonder whether this remark was in any way related to the recent nursing exam scandal in the Philippines, in which a few test centers were found to have obtained exams results prior to the exams. Anyway, I don't think anyone should take seriously a stupid remove made by a stupid person on TV show. Although I can see how it might hurt people's feelings, and be seen as evidence of a general bigotry. So, it's good that the producers are now sensitive to this and are trying to make amends.

Thanks for sharing your inputs, I am pleased that this has somehow toned down a bit. Though I have nothing against anyone, I also felt that sudden anger and looked for an answer. Good thing is, the network did provide their best to correct the mistake on their part..

I meant "I don't think anyone should take seriously a stupid remark"... I'm getting more and more dyslexic.

They are doing their best to address their mistake, as what the first responder has said.
I always do my best to make a research first on the matter, than quickly jump into conclusions. If people seeks respect to others, then they have to work hard for it to earn.
